We were back out on Dartmoor this week delivering another outdoor first aid course.

We headed up onto the moor at Heatree Down, near Hound Tor, for our practical scenarios. It always adds a different level of realism. It was a strong group – engaged, capable, and up for getting stuck in.

We had a real mix of experience on the course:

* Canoe club members
* Mountain leaders
* 10 Tors leaders and British Cycling mountain bike leaders

That blend of backgrounds made for some really valuable discussions and shared learning. Exactly what you want on an outdoor course.

Great couple of days out on Dartmoor this week delivering a 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course with First Aid 4 Life

We had a brilliant group of 12 learners from cyclists to ecologists, and outdoor instructors – all bringing great experience and discussion to the course. The course was held at Dartmoor Activity Centre, making the most of both the indoor facilities and the amazing outdoor environment.

We did plenty on scenario's from trauma management and environmental exposure to casualty care in remote settings, everyone got stuck in and developed practical, hands-on skills.

Huge congratulations to everyone who completed their Outdoor First Aid, Paediatric First Aid and Forest School First Aid at Dartmoor Activity Centre 🎉

It was a brilliant couple of days with an incredible mix of experience in the group — walking group leaders, ski leaders, Antarctic explorers, coasteering leaders, forestry rangers and adventure training instructors. A fantastic environment for learning, sharing best practice and building confidence.

Great engagement throughout, lots of practical scenarios.

Well done to you all — it was a pleasure delivering this with First Aid 4 Life.

Thanks again to Dartmoor Activity Centre for hosting and to everyone who brought their experience, enthusiasm and professionalism.

Massive congratulations to everyone who completed the two-day Outdoor First Aid course this week on Dartmoor.

It was a brilliant group with a real mix of experience, including Duke of Edinburgh leaders, Ten Tors leaders, mountain leaders, rock climbing instructors and snowboard instructors. Great engagement, great questions and some excellent practical scenarios skills across the two days.

A proper South Devon shout-out to the South Hams Dairy Cooperative 🐄 🥛 members who completed their Emergency First Aid at Work course for farming 🚜👏

We had a brilliant day at Bickington Village Hall – a fantastic venue and perfect for practical, hands-on training.

You all got fully involved. From strong CPR skills to some head bandaging, plus realistic discussions around farm machinery incidents and working in rural locations – you covered a huge amount of relevant ground.

It’s great to see the farming community investing in skills that protect your teams, your families and your neighbours. That knowledge could genuinely make the difference when it matters most.

Huge congratulations to everyone who has just completed their two-day Outdoor First Aid course with us 👏

It was great to also have learners finishing their Forest School and Paediatric First Aid qualifications at the same time — a brilliant few days of learning and teamwork.

Over the course we covered a wide range of outdoor topics including:

• Hypothermia and cold exposure
• Outdoor poisons from fungi and plants
• Giant hogweed awareness
• Snake bites & Ticks
• Abdominal injuries
• Managing incidents in remote environments

We spent time both indoors and out, making the most of the setting at Dartmoor Activity Centre at Haytor. Realistic, practical training in the environment where these skills may actually be needed makes all the difference.

Two courses, two locations, and a strong few days of training all round 👇

The 2-day Outdoor First Aid at Heatree was packed with practical skills, realistic scenarios and confident decision-making in the field. Great to have Tony Clark – TENS TORS legend – with us, bringing experience and insight that really added value.

We also delivered an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) in the South Hams – focused, hands-on and workplace ready.

Thanks to everyone who brought energy and teamwork to both recent courses.

A brilliant group completed their Outdoor First Aid course over two days at Dartmoor Activity Centre, Haytor.

We had a fantastic mix of outdoor instructors, local kayak and canoe club members, Forest School leaders, Dartmoor National Park education staff, and Duke of Edinburgh leaders. A really strong range of experience, with everyone fully stuck in from start to finish.

With the log burner on and Dartmoor doing what it does best outside, we worked through practical outdoor scenarios, realistic casualty care, and lots of hands-on first aid. Exactly how outdoor first aid training should be.

Huge thanks to everyone who took part. Great attitudes, great questions, and a real commitment to doing things properly when it matters.

What a week… and what a way to finish it 💪

An outdoor first aid course up at Heatree to start things off, followed by a search and rescue callout in Exmouth for Jev's🚨, then wrapping up today with an EFAW course at Babbacombe Model Village 🏡

Absolutely fantastic day today. A brilliant, welcoming team, and honestly blown away by the models, the detail, and the incredible people there 🤩

Huge congratulations to everyone who passed their ITC Outdoor First Aid today 🙌

We had a brilliant two days on Dartmoor at Heatree, putting outdoor first aid into practice in a real environment.

From improvised leg splints to realistic outdoor casualty scenarios, the group worked hard, supported each other well, and showed great skill and confidence throughout.

A big well done to you all – and thank you to Heatree for a great venue in a stunning location.
