Today we closed our doors to our wonderful children for the final time.

Thank you to everyone who trusted Oakenshaw Preschool over the years to look after their children. We are truly grateful and blessed to have looked after so many children over the years.

We wish everyone all the best for their future and wherever their journey takes them.

With the heaviest of hearts it’s our final goodbye.

Important Announcement: Closure of Oakenshaw Pre-School


After serving our community for over 40 years, Oakenshaw Pre-School will sadly be closing its doors on Thursday, 18th December 2025
This decision has not been made lightly. Oakenshaw Pre-School has been a cherished part of the community, nurturing generations of children and building lasting connections with families. We are deeply proud of the role we have played in supporting early years education and the countless memories created within our setting.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the children, families and staff, who have been part of our journey. Your trust, commitment, and involvement have made Oakenshaw Pre-School a truly special place.
Though this chapter is ending, the legacy of Oakenshaw Pre-school will live on in the lives of the children who learned, laughed, and grew here.
Thank you for being part of our story.

The children came in this morning and we discussed how they were feeling, they had to match their feeling to the correct picture. We then challenged them to look in the mirror and draw their own faces. 👦👦🏼👧🏾👧🏼👧🏻👦🏽

They all really enjoyed this activity, discussing how they were all different and individual making us special and unique in our own ways.

Starting off our Christmas countdown! Easing in with our Christmas post office 🎅 to send our letters to Santa and design our own Christmas cards. We also have some lovely stamps to use! 💮💟🎄 Not fully dressed up for Christmas yet as we’re not quite ready for Christmas but we couldn’t resist making a start!

We had the best morning playing in all our leaves, throwing them over ourselves and our friends and making the funniest boomerangs!

We love autumn! Playing in the leaves, looking at all the different colours, hearing the crunch, watching the wind blow the leaves, and most of all throwing leaves over our heads 🍁🍂🪾

Remembering and learning about the soldiers who fought in the war.

Some of our children have shown a large interest in physical exercise especially jumping so we set up this mini obstacle course to encourage and support their interests and development.
