For Tony, hugely respected in his field of medicine it was the nod to his love of The Gentleman’s Game that was displayed on his order of service. A caricature of him added some levity to the sombre day.

Under the summer rain we travelled to Greenfield to support a truly lovely family as they said goodbye to a gent whose desire to help people shone brightly.

Possibly Stockport’s most beautiful cemetery, St Thomas’ in Mellor, where Gemma lived, now serves as the perfect place for her to be laid to rest.

For this proud Mancunian, a requiem mass at Sacred Heart Church, her spiritual home, was offered. Surrounded by hundreds of people who braved the Mancunian drizzle just for her.

For Ann, tributes by her nearest and most precious family were delivered, with two teddies sat on the catafalque with her, placed by her grandchildren.

For Antonio, a stoic and brave man who was taken far too young, it was Rupert Bear that was displayed proudly.

In the Windsor Casket from the team at J C Walwyn & Sons and flowers by the excellent Grestys Florist Stockport under the summer rain he was laid to rest, the love those in attendance had for him was truly moving.

Thanks to Marie at for helping us look after this gorgeous family.

The beautiful seagrass, adorned with magenta Calla Lilies, as she had in her wedding bouquet.

Only a short while ago we met with Jen to arrange her mums funeral, now surrounded by hundreds of her loved ones we said goodbye to her. A beautiful, brave and determined lady who wrote clear instructions for her own funeral.

For a gent who watched out for obituary notices regularly, and demanded his death be announced too, he got his wish.

With wonderful stories shared by his family, his Irish roots were celebrated and proudly displayed as he was bid farewell.

Yesterday I completed a gruelling 7 hour (mostly uphill) 20 mile walk to raise money for Lync to the Stars, a community interest company which was born out of tragic circumstances.

The aim is to support families which are suffering the complete devastation of the loss of a child.

Genna and Lee set this up after their son, Lync, sadly and unexpectedly passed away at the age of 2. Their determination to carry on his legacy and use his loss as something positive is simply awe inspiring.

Whilst walking 20 miles in the summer heat was tough, and though my hips and thighs are screaming at me, and the blisters on my feet have blisters of their own, my pain today is nothing compared to theirs, and the thought of Lync’s family carrying on in the face of such adversity spurred me on to keep going.

I want to thank every single person who donated, and continues to do so, and I want to thank Genna and Lee for firstly trusting me to care for their precious boy, and then inviting me to take part in such a wonderful day yesterday.
