Ageing hits the skin - but it also hits the identity ❤️🩹
Most women feel guilty caring about their appearance - and it’s not because they’re vain.
It’s because they’ve been conditioned their entire lives to put themselves last.
We look after children, partners, careers, homes, ageing parents…
and somewhere along the way, we learn that wanting to feel confident in our own skin is “selfish.”
We minimise our needs.
We convince ourselves we’re overreacting.
We wait until we’re really unhappy before we give ourselves permission to do something about it.
But the emotional side of ageing isn’t vanity:
It’s the frustration of feeling tired when you’re not.
It’s the loss of glow after years of stress, hormones and responsibility.
It’s seeing a face that doesn’t match how you still feel inside - energetic, young, capable.
As a midwife turned injector, I see the same pattern constantly:
Women apologise before they even tell me what’s bothering them.
They whisper their insecurities like they’re doing something wrong.
They ask for the “bare minimum” because they don’t want to seem “too much.”
Here’s the truth:
You’re allowed to care.
You’re allowed to want to feel like you again.
And you don’t need to wait until your confidence is on the floor before you get support.
Caring for your appearance isn’t superficial.
It’s self-respect.
It’s emotional wellbeing.
It’s giving yourself back the attention you’ve given everyone else for years.
If your confidence has dipped and you’re not sure why, DM me SKIN and I’ll break it down with you 🤍
