Sensory Friendly Family Swimming is back at Middleton Arena!

We understand that visiting the swimming pool can be an overwhelming experience. In some instances, the volume of people in our swimming pools can be quite challenging. So we have introduced a Sensory Friendly Family Swim session, to provide young swimmers with the opportunity to swim, in a more relaxed and comfortable environment.

Any family who has at least one child with additional support needs. We understand that each child is different and their needs can vary.

Today we are celebrating the hard work and dedication of our nursing assistants.
Without them our team wouldn’t run as smoothly as it does. They provide support and advice to our families and schools, and work together with the nurses to ensure the children and young people with complex health needs are safe to attend and enjoy school.

Thank you!!! We appreciate everything you do. The Special Needs Nursing Team ❤️❤️❤️

Today, the 5th of October is World Meningitis Day. We would like to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis for different age groups. Having an awareness, can save a life.
If someone is ill and not getting better, do NOT wait for a rash to appear, seek urgent medical help.

Today two of our nurses Kim and Kelly went to the University of Manchester School of Dentistry to talk with dental students prior to the their prevention in practice module. The aim was to discuss common health issues associated with children and young people with additional needs (with particular emphasis on oral health) and how professionals working together to supprot young people and their families as well how making some small changes that professionals can make to their practice to help a child or young person have the best possible health outcomes.
