🔬 Lab to Race Day 👟 - Physiology Testing at MIHP has a multitude of benefits for all ability of athletes whether it’s your first race or 20th.

What are the benefits of physiological fitness testing?

✅ The sessions are bespoken to you. The team will start the session by understanding your current fitness levels and your future goals, including any upcoming events. This will ensure the advice given is all tailored to your performance and what you specifically want to achieve

✅ You will be given a 5-zone training model, separating your results for your ‘easy to high intensity’ training sessions and giving you advice on any changes that you can make*. This will ensure you get the right balance, so you are getting the adaptations you need to be better at your sport

✅ You will leave with a clear understanding of your current weaknesses – and guidance on how to address them

It’s important to note that you will benefit even more from these tests if they are done on a regular basis to continually review your performance and see if the changes you are making are improving your fitness levels overall.

*E.g. if you can go harder in your high intensity session, or ease off in your easier sessions.

⭐️⭐️⭐️Client Testimonial⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m Vanessa – HYROX Coach and HYROX & DEKA Athlete, now also training for long-distance triathlon. After competing at the HYROX World Championships in Chicago 2025, I’ve entered a new phase of training as I prepare for my next long-distance triathlon, while also staying ready for upcoming HYROX and DEKA events. (Currently ranked for DEKA Worlds in Florida 2025)

Working with MIHP and Didsbury Gym has been key in my approach to training. Through VO₂ max and lactate threshold testing at MIHP, I was able to clearly identify my personal heart-rate zones, which allowed me to shift from general sessions to structured, data-driven training.

One of the most surprising findings was my VO₂ max value, falling into the upper range, which motivated me to focus more on building my aerobic capacity, especially through conscious Zone 2 work.

The support from the MIHP physiologists and sports science team has been incredible. It’s not just about training harder, but training smarter and more sustainably.

If you’re a HYROX (or any endurance/hybrid) athlete looking to train with more purpose, I highly recommend the testing at MIHP! For me, combining MIHP assessments with training at Nuffield Didsbury Gym has been a powerful combination of science, structure, and support, and I’m excited to keep pushing forward!
