🚨 MOUNJARO PRESCRIBING 🚨

We are still seeing a high number of requests to be prescribed Mounjaro (Tirzepatide). GP Practices within Greater Manchester are NOT prescribing this for weight management at this time.
Once Greater Manchester has published guidance and approved the drug to be prescribed by your GP we will be in touch with all eligible patients.

📢 Tirzepatide for Weight Management – Update
We are expecting lots of enquiries about tirzepatide, the new medication for weight management.
Although NHS England has published national eligibility criteria, the local guidance for Greater Manchester has not yet been finalised. This means:
❗️ We are currently unable to prescribe tirzepatide at this time.
⚠️ This is due to strict NHS and regional guidelines that are outside of our control. We must wait for formal approval before we can offer prescriptions.
✅ Once prescribing becomes available, eligibility will be based on:
• A specific BMI threshold of 40 or over (adjusted for ethnicity)
• Having at least 4 qualifying health conditions, such as:
• Hypertension
• Dyslipidaemia
• Obstructive sleep apnoea
• Cardiovascular disease
• Type 2 diabetes mellitus
📌 We will update you as soon as we receive confirmation that prescribing can begin in Greater Manchester.
We will contact eligible patients in due course.
