I’ve recently taken part in the Clinical LGBTQ+ and Inclusivity Training provided by and the inimitable Ana Bott

Our community needs more understanding of how we can help each other while our government are failing so badly.

I’d really recommend this course to anyone who practises any form of bodywork. It’s a real deep dive in to an understanding of pathologies that present more in LGBTQ+ folx and how hormonal treatments can impact pain patterns in our transgender siblings.. as well as lots of other well thought out information 🫶

Here I am.
I thought I'd do an an intro post as it's been a minute... So, hi! I'm Isadora.
I practice Advanced Clinical Massage, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue, Remedial Massage, Swedish, Lymphatic Drainage and Indian Head. I've moved my practice from Todmorden, West Yorkshire, to Shen Clinic in Whalley Range a few months ago. I'm based there on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
On Tuesdays I work at Manchester Action Street Health, providing massage for the service users.
I create personalised treatment plans using a combination of different massage techniques best suited for each clients needs; that means that consultation is hugely important aspect of my work. I take time to fully understand what each client needs, create an environment to promote activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, and to achieve the results they want from a session - whether that be to decrease pain, for stress relief, promote relaxation or increase range of movement.

I also run an artist-led art studios and residency space, that's a whole other story...

I just finished listening to episode #226 The Healing Power of Community ft Gabor Maté, Johann Hari, Dan Buettner & Friends on Dr Rangan Chattergee's podcast Feel Better, Live More and wanted share it with y'all. I think it's especially pertinent while we're reflecting on the year passed and making plans for the next.

Our ancestors evolved as a collective – ancient humans thrived in tribes. From keeping safe at night to hunting for and sharing food, coming together as a community was essential for our survival. Travel and technology mean families often live far apart, and younger generations are more likely to communicate through screens than face to face. We can survive without community, but can we really thrive?

Reaching out to others then, is one of the best things we can do to protect and improve our holistic health. And I don’t just mean asking for help. By giving to others, volunteering your time or lending an ear, your own wellbeing is boosted alongside the recipients’.
