Overselling, upselling, wrongly selling...

Non-surgical face lift sounds fantastic!..I want one!😂

When the term is used to sell a not so cheap course of some form of energy based treatment, and sell it as a remarkable solution to jowling then this most definately is stretching the truth.

But if you can look beyond the term (and beyond the person selling it to you as that) and understand the potential of the device, things like HIFU & RF microneedling can sit wonderfully along side things like biostimulators, amino acids and even dermal fillers and toxin to achieve a refreshed and firmed look.

Beyond knowing how any treatment works the next most important thing to avoid feeling scammed is to understand what to expect and when to expect it.

Journeys that give you a refresh that can save you feeling like you need to go under the knife take time, even when using a 'treatment stacking' approach which cherry picks treatments to tackle each sign of aging at its cause.

What's changing in your life to challenge you?

As much as I tell my patients to think outside of the box, I get it, there's comfort and ease in sticking with the same old... Same old skincare routine, always the same breakfast & coffee, hitting the gym routine the same way you did 10 years ago?...But ease doesn't mean it's best for you, and often your body is screaming out cues to adapt but we choose to ignore them (or maybe are too busy to recognise we can feel better?!)

I am very much a person that 'gets on' with things but pregnancy has challenged me. Forcing me to adapt to try to continue to give my body what it needs in a way that it's can cope with. And there are many ways life challenges us, other than pregnancy, that can give us a great opportunity to optimise the journey.

Looking after your body, mind and skin right now pays out in terms of immediate results but it also works deeper. Slowing biological aging, visible aging, reducing risks lf physical and mental health concerns and ultimatley lets us live our best life for longer.

So whatever your body is telling you, take a moment to listen and then choose something small and achievable to act on...and if you need help with any of that, I'm here for it.

✋️who's running off adrenaline?

Screens, 5-9 routines and 'now-culture' are just part and parcel of modern life. Yet being 'on' and 'productive' all the time can actually lead to anything but.

High cortisol and adrenaline leads to inflammation, faster biological aging and just broken down functioning across body, mind and skin.

Do you eat enough protein?

Ensuring each meal has a good amount of protein isn't just for those of us wanting to build muscle mass. It's for everyone who wants to feel well in the now and age well in the future!

We needs a surprisingly high amount to maintain normal bodily functioning and to simply repair, on many levels, from the day. And unless you are actively prioritising protein, it is highly likely it's not hitting the mark.

Low protein impact so much in our body, mind and skin

Is it expensive to age well?

Wellness, longevity, and anti-aging all are perceived to be costly ventures. Yes, cutting edge tests and treatments often do come with a price tag, but these should be viewed as the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what we can do to look after our bodies, minds and skin.
..and keep them working, and working well for us, for decades to come!

Day to day habits stack up. And often these just need a little motivation to get going, and cost nothing..Of course making things habit does take effort and there are ways, people and apps that can help you stick to them (that may also come with a price tag).

But the fun thing is these habits tend to snowball...motivation no longer being an issue when you see and feel the rewards.

Free wellness and age-well habits:
• movement
• time in green space
• sunlight exposure
• reading, drawing, chatting and other screen free down time
• smiling & greeting other, laughing, hugs and simple social interaction
• meditation, journaling, self reflection
• setting boundaries, with time, with efforts
• giving yourself credit and seeing what you have achieved
• learning to listen to then act on cues from your body (am I hungry, am I thirsty, do i need sleep...)

Then if you choose to spend (and hopefully spend wisely!) on wellness tests, supplements, skincare or regenerative treatments, then you will certainly see more results from them than simply using them to plaster over cracks.

Can you decipher what you see?

It can be really hard to know what treatment will help your concerns and I find lip filler tends to be up there with treatments that you think you need when in reality you don't (or at least it's not going to tick all your boxes).

We are all to often our own worst critic.

I can easily say look at yourself with love and kindness...but I get it...to see and feel yourself takes time.

Growing baby takes a lot.You can make it take less

It is completely undeniable that nutrients taken to nourish our little one actually leaves us essentially stripped of the ability to repair and heal. Leading to everything from crows feet and skin laxity to baby brain.

Foods that will make not break you⬇️

Simple rules like eating variety, aiming for 30 plants a week, and eating the rainbow are definitely the basis for a diet that should provide your body and ultimately your skin with what it needs to function properly. Age, and heal well.

Sometimes it can be useful to know specific what foods offer you, particularly at times when you may need to nourish more, settle inflammation and reset your gut microbiome.

Here are my favourite whole food staples that I love throughout the year, but particularly in January to help combat bloat, fatigue, and inflammed skin amongst other common Blue January concerns.

🫒 Olive oil 🫚Cinnamon &turmeric- powerful antinflammatory, antioxidant and aids absorption of other nutrients
🥜 Ancient grains, seeds, nuts- gut friends fibre, micronutrients like zinc, healthy fats
🥬Kale, spinach 🍄Mushrooms 🫘Pulses - gut supportive fibre, prebiotics, antioxidants and antiinflammatories
🫙Kefir, Saurkraut- prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics to love your gut, aid absorption, immunity and settle inflammation
🐟Oily fish 🦴Bone Broth🥩Grass fed animal protein- rich in omega 3, b12, healthy fats & amino acids.

With these super foods can most definatley still make winter comfort foods that you know will nourish your body, mind and skin.

Rosacea, sensitivity and angry breakouts?

January is notorious for inflammed skin.
