🩷🩵 International Wave of Light 🩵🩷

Today marks the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week. Tonight we are remembering all of those babies who lit up our lives for such a short time 🕯️ 💫

Tonight at 7pm, we will lead a virtual Wave of Light on this post. If you’d like to join us in remembering, please light a candle, let it burn for at least 1 hour and post your picture in the comments 🩵🩷

🍁🍂 Hello September! 🍂🍁

💜This month we are encouraging a month of movement with the lead up to the upcoming 'I can move' Children's Cancer North event.

💜September is Childhood cancer awareness
month an international campaign to raise awareness and support for children’s and young people’s cancers.

💜This month we partner with charities, funders and families affected by cancer to have the biggest possible impact.

💜Follow our month of movement to raise awareness and encouraging everyone to move more, make healthy choices and donate if available to. We will be sharing ways you can show your support.

💜Day 3 is a 'Balance challenge'

Testing your stability is always a good idea for both injury prevention and more movement. While you’re doing dishes, or brushing your teeth, try this challenge. You’ll use more muscles (a.k.a. burn more calories) by fighting to keep upright.

💜Ease your way in
Remember to stretch before and after you exercise and gradually build up how long you can complete over the month. Always hydrate and rest when need it, stop straight away if feel pain.

🌳How to do Vrikshasana? (Tree pose)

🌳Stand straight.
🌳Balance firmly on your left leg and lift your right leg. Bend your right leg at the knee.
🌳Now, place your right foot against the inside of your left ankle, calf or thigh. YOUR choice. Make sure the toes of your right foot facing downward.
🌳Join your palms in prayer at your chest level. Now, lift your arms over your head till your hands are stretched upward.
🌳Hold the position while breathing deeply.
🌳Lower your arms to chest level and then separate your palms.
🌳Straighten your right leg and stand again.
🌳Repeat the posture with your right leg.

💜Day 4 is a 'Sun Salutation challenge'
Flow through three rounds of a sun salutation before you even leave your bedroom. You'll benefit from the stretch and some peace of mind.

💜Ease your way in
Remember to stretch before and after you exercise and gradually build up how long you can complete over the month. Always hydrate and rest when need it, stop straight away if feel pain.

☀️ How to do Sun Salutation

☀️ Start with big toes touching and arms at your sides, palms facing forward. Inhale - sweep your arms out to the sides and overhead, bring palms together and look up at your hands.

☀️ Exhale and hinge at the hips - sweep your arms wide, down to standing forward fold, slightly bend your knees and relax your hands toward the floor. Keep core engaged. Tuck chin to look behind.

☀️ Exhale and lower your torso back to standing forward fold by hinging at the hips and reaching your hands to the floor. Use your core to pull torso toward thighs. This fold should feel deeper than the first one.

☀️ Inhale to pull your chest forward and lift your torso to Half lift, forming an L-shape with your body. Lightly press hands to your shins, making back parallel to floor. Tuck chin toward throat, and look straight down.

☀️ Lower your hips as if sitting down onto a chair, and use your core to lift your chest away from your thighs. Sweep arms out wide, palms facing the ceiling.

☀️ Inhale deeply as you press down through your heels, extend hands as high as possible to stand as tall as you can, and pressing palms firmly together overhead. To end, exhale as you bring your hands to your heart centre.

This month we partner with charities, funders and families affected by cancer to have the biggest possible impact.

💜Step by step, day by day, the work completed by these amazing organisations means. that more children and young people with cancer live better lives through more effective and less toxic treatments.

💜Follow our month of movement to raise awareness and encouraging everyone to move more, make healthy choices and donate if available to. We will be sharing ways you can show your support.

💜Day 1 starts with our Plank hold. 'Hands down' as we say in class... Try this and comment done when you've completed it. ✅

💜Ease your way in
Remember to stretch before and after you plank and gradually build up how long you plank for throughout the month.

💜How to plank
-Push into your forearms and feet to push up into a straight line keeping your back flat.
-Hold the plank for around 1-2 minutes or whatever is suitable for you. Start with 10-30 seconds. And keep going!
-If you are new to planking you can amend your planks to keep your knees on the ground and hold it for less time.

This month we are celebrating PRIDE month, thinking about what we can take pride in. 💜

We are all so very different and this is definitely something to be proud of. Can you imagine anything worse than everyone being the same?!

Today we are shining a light on Self Healing. Not unlike our yoga journey at Kalma Life uk healing ourselves is a continuous journey. 💜

In the form of activity, self-healing can be done in various ways such as relaxation through breathing; contemplation with meditation and of-course yoga, creating positive emotions that will have an impact on the emergence of endorphins or often called 'happy hormones'. 💜

There are many ways to self heal, find yours today and be proud that you are taking the first steps...
