CAHN | Coming Together in Hope: COVID-19 Day of Reflection 2026

Yesterday, 8th March 2026, at Monastery, the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) hosted Coming Together in Hope: COVID-19 Day of Reflection 2026, bringing together faith leaders, community members, carers, health professionals and volunteers to remember Black Caribbean and African communities affected by COVID-19 and to reflect on lessons learned.

Professor Faye Ruddock DL, CAHN Chair, opened the evening, emphasising the importance of honouring resilience and fostering hope within the community.
Bishop Mike Royal shared his personal journey from a place of vulnerability during the pandemic, offering insight into the strength and unity that emerged and the hope that continues to guide community recovery.

Bishop Herbert McKenzie, Rev (Dr) Joseph Omofuma, Professor David Baxter, Theresa Morupisi, and Thembi Moyo shared reflections on service, survival, and healing, while Rosalyn Magowan highlighted the value of culturally rooted counselling through crisis.
Musical performances by Ileri, Rachel McFarlane, Minista Chinonso, and the CPCMI Choir added moments of inspiration and unity.

The evening concluded with a minute’s silence for lives lost, expressions of gratitude to frontline workers, carers, and volunteers, and a shared commitment to carry lessons forward for a stronger, connected community.
