Happy Sunday and here is our Sunday reminder and here is our Ramadan Top Tips from an OT – shared by our lovely OT Maryam 🌙
During Ramadan, routines, sleep and energy levels can change while fasting. Small adjustments to your day can make a big difference in supporting your wellbeing, focus and balance.
Here are some Occupational Therapy inspired tips to help during Ramadan:
✨ Plan your energy through the day
Think about when your energy is highest and lowest while fasting. Try to schedule more demanding tasks earlier in the day and keep afternoons lighter.
🥣 Create a balanced Suhoor plate
Choose foods that release energy slowly such as oats, eggs, yoghurt, nuts and whole grains. Pair these with water-rich foods like fruit or cucumber.
📋 Simplify your routines
Ramadan already changes daily schedules, so reducing decision making can help.
• Prepare clothes the night before
• Plan meals ahead of time
• Use a simple morning checklist
🧠 Protect your mental energy
Break tasks into smaller steps and take short mindful pauses. Even a couple of minutes of breathing or stretching can help reset your focus.
🕯 Create a calm prayer space
A supportive environment can help you feel more present and regulated.
• Soft lighting
• Comfortable mat or cushion
• Minimal clutter
💧 Stay hydrated between Iftar and Suhoor
Instead of drinking lots of water at once, try spacing drinks across the evening so your body absorbs it better.
🌿 Rest in different ways
Rest isn’t only sleep. Gentle activities like stretching, a quiet walk or reading can help recharge your energy.
🤝 Share the load
Ramadan can bring extra cooking, hosting and prayers. Sharing tasks with family or housemates can help maintain balance.
💚 Be kind to your body
Your routine, energy and productivity may shift during Ramadan, and that’s okay. Occupational Therapy is all about adapting routines to support health, wellbeing and meaningful activities.
Ramadan is a time of intention, balance and reflection. Small changes to your environment and routine can make a big difference.
