✨ Voices of Learn With ESS | Azeem ✨
I’m Azeem Amir, 26, from Rochdale. Born with a visual impairment, no vision in my right eye and light perception in my left, life has always been about adapting. Whether it’s travelling, working, or using technology, I’ve relied on other senses like listening and built strategies to stay independent. At the core, I’ve always believed that I can achieve just as much (if not more) as someone with full sight.
Advocating for disability awareness is close to my heart. Not just for those with visual impairments like me, but for anyone with hearing, physical, sensory, or invisible disabilities. Awareness sparks empathy, and empathy drives inclusion. That’s what I love about Learn With ESS workshops: they’re interactive, fun, and always leave people talking about accessibility, mindset, and inclusion long after the session ends.
Looking ahead, my vision for the next 10 years is simple but powerful:
• More genuine conversations between disabled and non disabled people, breaking down barriers and misconceptions.
• Schools and workplaces embedding disability awareness and training into everyday practice.
• A society that doesn’t just make space, but actively offers a helping hand - kind, supportive, and inclusive in the everyday.
