Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team Manager (Band 10)
The DoLS Team is a borough and system-wide service within Adult Social Care and plays a crucial role in ensuring residents’ legal rights are protected. The DoLS Team is responsible for ensuring that Trafford Council meets its statutory responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Schedule A1 for residents residing in hospital and care homes where there is evidence, the person lacks mental capacity to consent to being accommodated there. As DoLS Team Manager your role will have a key focus on ensuring high standards of professional practice in the operational delivery of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

Key Responsibilities:
The DoLS Team Manager will:

Ensure Trafford Council meets its statutory responsibilities under DoLS to the highest standard in accordance with legal frameworks
Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the Council’s DoLS Team to ensure that it is responsive, legally compliant, high performing, and person centred
Provide managerial oversight and leadership of the DoLS Team ensuring that the team works collaboratively towards best practice
Ensure that the DoLS team maximises its resources whilst also looking to identify new ways of working in partnership with stakeholders
Hold responsibility for quality assuring and approving DoLS authorisations

You will be working in our Child in Need Service where you will work on a locality basis with children and families that require a social work assessment. We have developed a specialised service in this area of work to allow us to strengthen our assessment and planning for children in need and their families, raising the status of children in need and ensuring a consistent approach across the borough. Teams’ complete duty on a rota basis and social workers will have a varied workload including undertaking section 47 enquiries, completing child and family assessments and holding a manageable case load of children who are supported through child in need planning.

It is also important that workers in this service can build relational partnerships that strengthen our work and enable the step down of plans where it is safe to do so and in the families’ timescales.

As an Advanced Practitioner you will coach, support, and supervise designated staff or students and support their professional development.

Social Worker with at least 3 years’ experience required for Safeguarding Children’s team. Must have knowledge of

• Child Protection and CIN

• Working within statutory deadlines, etc within a Safeguarding Team. Flexible working in place- balance between working from home/office and statutory visits to meet the needs of the service. Must be able to travel to Bolton be office based at short notice if demands require.

Candidates need to be able to undertake duty and home visits. Caseload will be across Bolton with office base at Castle Hill. Depending on experience successful candidates will be allocated across the SG teams and service
