Women’s health has come a long way, but we’re still miles behind where we should be.

Even now, with more conversations happening around menopause, hormone health and intimate wellness, I still see the same outdated beliefs showing up in clinic. Women being dismissed. Conditions left untreated. Real concerns brushed off as “just getting older.”

After years of working in aesthetics and intimate health, I’ve seen the physical and emotional impact this can have. And frankly, I think we’ve had enough.

So here are three things I’d very happily see the back of in women’s health, the things that are holding us back, keeping us quiet, and making too many of us feel like we have to just “put up with it.” It’s time for that to change 👉🏼

While we’re pleased to see some progress in the UK’s aesthetic treatment regulations, there’s still a long way to go for true patient safety. The new guidelines - including mandatory licensing and training - are a step forward, but they’re the bare minimum, like the standards for tattoo parlours, and we need more 💯

The rise of cowboy injectors cutting corners has led to serious consequences, including botulism cases and, tragically, deaths, such as the recent one linked to Brazilian butt lifts. This makes it even clearer that the aesthetic industry needs stricter regulation and accountability.

At House of Glo, safety is our top priority. As a Registered Nurse Prescriber with over 15 years of experience, Nurse Julie personally leads every treatment, ensuring high medical standards and safety. We’re fully compliant and proud of our commitment to protecting you and your well-being 🥼

While local council licensing and CQC regulation are steps forward, we’re still left wondering: Will fines stop the cowboys? Until the industry is led by trained, qualified health professionals, patients will remain at risk.
