This beautifully created sensory provision offers a rich, open-ended learning experience that strongly supports the EYFS. Using a combination of water, natural materials, loose parts and carefully selected tools, children are invited into a calm and engaging environment where exploration and creativity can flourish.
Through hands-on sensory play, children are able to investigate textures, movement and cause and effect, supporting their development within Understanding the World. The use of petals, shells, wooden elements and natural foliage encourages curiosity and early scientific thinking as children explore how materials behave when mixed, poured, scooped or arranged.
Opportunities for rich language development are embedded throughout, supporting Communication and Language. Children naturally begin to describe what they see, feel and do, using vocabulary linked to textures, colours and actions. The open-ended nature of the resources also encourages storytelling, imaginative play and collaboration, linking to Expressive Arts and Design and Personal, Social and Emotional Development, as children share ideas, take turns and engage alongside others.
