Carrying the coffin - if you’ve wondered why some pallbearers carry a coffin on their shoulders and some carry at waist height, this will normally depend on the type of coffin that’s been chosen, and the personal preference of the family. If the coffin has load bearing handles then carrying at waist height is possible - so if this is something you would like specifically for your funeral then speak to your director who will be able to advise on the most appropriate casket options. Carrying the coffin on the shoulders is the traditional method in the UK - typically with up to 6 pallbearers.
