Dear Member

It is with great sadness that we are informing you of the recent death of Professor Ray McMahon, Consultant Gastrointestinal Pathologist/Honorary Professor Emeritus to Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Professor McMahon was a huge supporter of the Manchester Medical Society and the Section of Pathology and the medical education they provided. Having been a member for 38 years, he served on the Council of the Society from 1998 – he was the Honorary Secretary 1998-2005, Chairman 2006-2012, President of the Society in 2016 and Investment Trustee since 2021.

Ray’s friendly and supportive nature made him a cherished colleague, and he will be deeply missed.

We will forward details of his funeral when they become available.

Thank you.
