Last week I met with a family who have chosen our funeral home for many years. Their father passed away in 1993, when I was just a glimmer in my parent's eyes. My dad looked after the family at the age of 27, he arranged and conducted the funeral service. Now, 33 years later I am looking after the same family, following in my dad's footsteps, caring for their mum. I think it is such a special comfort to me, and them, knowing that we share a very special connection. Working as a funeral director spans generations, and even though I would have loved to have had the opportunity to have worked alongside my dad, I feel so honoured to care for the same people he did when he was not much younger than me.
