What does beautiful mean to you?

In a world where we are bombarded by filters etc it’s hard to not compare yourself to images that actually are not real but look -

Beautiful to me means someone’s heart and soul

Beautiful means someone is kind

Caring

Puts others before them

Will pick up litter

Will help someone in need

Are selfless

Do little things for others that mean the world

Beautiful is deep

Stop looking at it as an outside in

You do any of the above you are absolutely beautiful

Sometimes in life things can happen to us that are beyond our control

A common way to deal with this is to take the blame , to feel you deserved it or you must have done something wrong to have that happen to you.

This is detrimental to our mental health and over all well being and self value and belief .

Often we carry these things with us for most of our lives thinking it’s just what we have been dealt and is normal to feel this way.

I am here to tell you it’s not and you do not have to go through your entire life carrying the weight of trauma or other people’s wrong doing on your shoulders .

It’s not an easy process to go through , it can be challenging and feelings of vulnerability can arise but a life time of feeling free, knowing you did no wrong , self acceptance and an increased sense of self belief awaits you when you do decide to speak to someone and learn to understand and to ultimately let go.

Nlp and life coaching can really help you to be able to process and get you to a life free from the burdens you may have been carrying .

So you can enjoy the rest of your life feeling so much lighter , confident and most importantly truly happy

Your past does not determine your future

Read that again because it’s so true

Things that happen to us can be detrimental to our mental health and mind set, it’s completely normal to feel those emotions and to carry them with you for periods of time .

We are all human - remember that , we are not robots and some things in life happen that are beyond our control and these can really manifest inside our minds and can affect how we move forwards and can entirely affect our future and choices that we make to the point of actually missing out on positive things because we feel we cannot accept them or believe that people can treat us differently and positively

However it doesn’t have to be this way

You don’t have to be defined by past trauma or events which made you feel negative emotions

You can change your future , you can free yourself from carrying all that you do and you can find true and pure happiness whatever that may look like to you.

We can reframe and choose to move forwards in a different direction, one that’s much more positive , and it is absolutely 💯 possible.

Someone once said to me I don’t feel I have really had any trauma in my life so I don’t understand why I feel this way…. Trauma is different for everyone and words can be traumatic for someone to deal with, the way people act towards us can be traumatic if we don’t have the tools to be able to cope with it and also the self belief to stay in your own lane and move in the direction that you wish to.

Don’t ever compare your life in any way at all to someone else’s , what effects you may not someone else but if it does and you want to deal with things to be able to push forwards NLP has many great tools to help you to do so.

Your priority list ~~~~

Where are you on it?

I ask this because for pretty much my whole life I have been at the bottom of it

I always thought well I am looking after everyone else right so I am doing good things so it doesn’t matter ….

But guess what …

And this is something I have really learnt recently

It absolutely does matter

You matter

Your happiness matters

Check in with yourself when you next have 5-10 minutes

Think where you are on your priority list

Do you need to shuffle it around to get yourself higher on that list?

I promise you it makes all the difference when you put yourself on that list

It doesn’t have to mean you put yourself first 24/7

But it does mean that you matter to you and this is super important

One life

One time on this earth

Time is the one thing we can never get back so as lovely as it is to look after others you also need to look after you too and do what makes you happy

We are all born into this world a blank canvas

As we grow - our environment , people we are around , events in life good and bad, school, college , work , everything influences us and how we adapt to changes.

There is a cycle of repetitive behaviour which is common where we repeat the behaviour of those who have influenced us the most .

There is also a choice here - a choice to repeat and a choice to learn from and consciously decided to not follow in that same path especially if it is negative or even if it’s positive you do not have to follow the path of others.

The latter is the braver choice because it’s almost like you are going against the grain so to speak however if the first choice doesn’t serve you and make for a promising future isn’t it much better to be that bit braver?

Are you following your own true path?

The amazing thing is even if you have ventured down the repeated behaviour path and it’s not serving you and you feel stuck because many do, you absolutely can divert - in fact we can divert in life as many times as we like .

See life as a journey and it’s one that we only get one of .

Choose things that are fulfilling to you and be brave and don’t be influenced by others

Nothing lasts forever if you want to change you CAN

If you want to be happy you absolutely CAN be

Sometimes we have to go through some hard times to get to the other side

Sometimes we have to evaluate our lives and make some necessary changes to get to where we truly want to be

Sometimes we have to let go of some people or things that are no longer positive for us from our past

Sometimes we really need to work on ourselves and visualising what we truly want our lives to look like, to feel like, to be filled with

Sometimes we have to be brave and step into the unknown new territory in order to enable us to open ourselves up to the possibility of finding what we really want

What does your happy look like?

Reframing food and the way we look at it

The eat well plate is a great tool for an overall balanced diet

It’s visual and it’s pretty accurate although it seems to have been forgotten in amongst all the diets we are bombarded with.

We eat for lots of different reasons -
Nutrients our bodies need
Pleasure (yes food is allowed to be pleasurable and so it should be it’s a fundamental factor in life and socially also)
Taste - we have our own individual taste of what we like and don’t like

We can also eat for emotional reasons and factors outside of all of the above -
Stress
Anxiety
Boredom
Punishment
Emotionally

Along with confusion over what we should and shouldn’t be eating due to the mixed messages and advertising we have been surrounded by probably since our teenage years when we first become aware of our bodies and the different shapes and aware of diets .

What happens after years of yo yo dieting is that we become disconnected with our true hunger cues and cravings for what we actually desire to eat.

We no longer have the mind and body connection to true cues that our body will actually naturally give us .

Emotions kick in also, winning when we are sticking to the diet and shame, failure and guilt when we eventually lose control which will inevitably happen - I personally don’t know many people that have managed to rigidly stick to a diet and the same weight for there entire life . I could be proven wrong and am open to that but it would be the minority of people.

So this cycle continues - which builds a war between us and our bodies - you know the thing that keeps us alive, enables us to move, have children , care for people and work .

By reframing the way we look at food , ridding our minds of all the diets we have tried over the years and concentrating solely on the fundamentals of nutrition, the hunger scale, ridding emotional eating and allowing ourselves to actually enjoy food and also honour our bodies with movement of whatever feels good for you. We can find peace and freedom with food , make friends with the one thing that keeps us alive , gain confidence and self belief and learn to love the skin that we are in quite literally .

It’s a skill - one we are actually born with that is bashed out of us over the years whether that’s due to continuous dieting or a trauma that’s happened so we use food to control you can undo all of it and go on to live a life free from the stress and anxiety around food and body image so that you can actually give more focus to things you truly want to do .

Does your own mind prevent you from doing things that you want to?

Do you worry and become anxious over others judging you?

Just stop for a moment

Let’s switch this around and reframe ….

Do you judge others ?

If the answer is no then why logically would people be judging you and if they do why does that affect you?

What’s your reasons for wanting to do the things your mind is preventing you from doing?

How are you going to feel after doing these things? Will it have a positive outcome?

Build your why, your belief , let go of overthinking and creating fear inside of you.

Because when we work through these things I can promise you the anxiety will go and things will become more clear and you will gain clarity about your why .

Be kind to yourself

Take some pressure off

Think about positive attributes you have inside you

Think how you care for others

Do you show yourself the same level of care?

How do you talk to yourself?

Are you self critical when you look in the mirror?

Do you talk down to yourself?

Nobody on this planet is perfect … absolutely nobody so I am not going to say that I can take you to this perfect place

But what we can work on is you becoming your own friend , being kind to yourself , forgiving yourself for mistakes, making peace with who you to move forwards in life as your authentic self. To focus on the goals and what you want your life to look like in 5 years - 12 months - the next month (chunking things down so we get there in small steps forwards )

We can reframe the way you speak to yourself , we can quieten that negative voice right down.

We can focus on your future and what that looks like and leave the past in the past but take the learns from it- it’s all experience at the end of the day the good and the bad .

I was terrible for negative self talk and I use reframing a lot in my life.

‘I don’t have time for me’

Have a look through your diary, block out some time , I bet you can find it 😉

Another tool that’s great is 24 hour recall

I use it for lots of things with clients

Let’s go back through the last 24 hours and see where we can make some changes to include some more movement

If your goal is to change some eating habits

We go back through the past 24 hours and see where some habits are creeping in without you realising.

It’s a great tool that we can work together on and habit by habit become more aware and make some changes which will result in awareness increasing .

A lot of what we do is purely by habit , but a lot of habits we are not at all aware of .

It’s an interesting process that you have to be cool with not happening over night but with increasing awareness and becoming in tune with behaviours and habits before you know it , we have changed them to a positive habit that will remain unconsciously .

3 things your most grateful for today ?

I’ll start you off

1. My daughter - I could not be more proud of her as a little human and eternally grateful for our beautiful bond that we have .

2. My strength and resilience

3. Some really amazingly supportive people that I have in my life .

Starting your day with 3 things you are grateful for is a great way to get into a positive mind set.

I also like writing down my values of what’s most important to me and my daughter and I wrote a list of what we want to do/ see and achieve in the next 12 months together and independently .

I love a list!

What are you grateful for?

And what do you want from the next 12 months… don’t need to share just something to think about because sometimes things can get muddled and side tracked so it’s a good tool to have a check in with yourself every now and again

If things are no longer positive for you

If you need to let go of some things or even people to open doors for you to be happy

Then although it can be a hard decision - you will know deep down in your gut if it’s the right one

Sometimes we have to do bold and brave things and walk into the unknown to have that chance of real happiness.

Nutrients and food freedom

I did a post the other day on how my body was crying out for nutrients.

It’s been through a lot recently including a major surgery and afterwards I really just craved quite bland foods and lots of toast!

Food freedom doesn’t equal a lifetime of fast foods and all the things we have previously deprived ourselves of although once we surrender and break free from all the restrictive behaviours and eating patterns we have been involved in it may take some time for those foods to become less of a desire as you have trained yourself to believe you cannot have these foods the desire for them increases ten fold.

It’s a process that needs a great amount of trust but the desire fades as these become no longer the forbidden fruit.

So I have made a smoothie with lots of frozen fruit ( cheaper and actually freezing fruits from picking can hold their nutrients better as once daylight and exposure to handling etc hits the picked fruit their nutrient density decreases ) , banana, berries , pineapple , mango and papaya , almond milk, manuka honey and half a sachet of greens powder and it’s making me feel really good at this moment .

I am not a fruit snacker so for me this is a brilliant way to get some really good nutrients into my body.

Strangely I know on some programmes fruit is fine but not when blended 🤔

We all deserve growth, to be happy, self care and time for ourselves
It is not selfish
It is necessary for optimal mental health.

This word pops up time and time again with clients and it is something that I personally have struggled with accepting that I deserve happiness too.

Past trauma or experiences that were not in our control can quite often be the route cause or it can be as simple as over time , becoming over stretched and not having balance to life with work and family time it can lead to us not thinking about what we need and as time goes on our self worth and value lowers because we give so much to others .

Nlp can really help with this and I love seeing the change when people realise they do deserve these things and make time to act on it .

Just a little note to say

You are enough 👌

It’s really easy especially in this day and age of scrolling through social media to play the comparing game.

There isn’t another you on this planet and there won’t ever be.

Aim to become the best version of you

That doesn’t mean looking like someone else, or doing things someone else does

We all have struggles in amongst all of the highlighted reels

It’s normal. And a part of life and a chance to learn and grow.

Never compare your life to anyone else’s

Find your happy whatever that looks like to you

Work on you because you want to not because you think you should work on things .

One life and it’s all yours

We are not all the same shape and size, I use myself as an example in this video, my body naturally falls in this range and has done my whole life apart from when I was poorly with eating disorders.
Accepting , loving and respecting your body at every size is key to unlocking the path of restrictive diets and disordered eating.
We are all made to be different in every way ❤️

Did you know your body needs fat! 🤔

Fat has such a bad rep and we are made to believe we should fear it when actually we really need fat in our diets and it has a lot of functions .

Firstly it insulates the body and regulates temperature

It provides energy for the body

Supports cell growth

Fat helps us feel full

Vitamins are either water soluble which we need everyday as we are unable to store them or FAT SOLUBLE (vitamins A,D,E and K) which are stored in the body’s fatty tissue and liver

Fats also help to to regulate hormones

For women being of a too low body fat can be detrimental to our health, prevent us from having a menstrual cycle due to hormone imbalance and also you’re body is quite clever , if it’s not getting what it needs to function this will be its first port of call to therefore preserve energy.
This happened to me many times throughout my eating disorders and when my weight and body fat got below a certain level they disappeared.
This can have a further impact on our health further down the line also with conditions like osteoporosis / dry skin / hair loss.

The body cannot make fat so it’s essential we have fat in our diet.

I know people who are afraid to eat avocados because of there fat content - I can understand on the texture side as it’s quite a unique one but it’s full of so many nutrients . Peanut butter is another many I know fear and actually when I first started my recovery I used to scrape a tiny amount on my toast for this same fear.

So what does food freedom look like around fats

I do truly believe to break free from diet culture we need to have a quite basic knowledge of the fundamentals of nutrition which is why I will be doing posts like this - to educate us all on what our body needs and to rid the fear that certain food groups are bad for us .

Instead of being at war with your body which a lot of us spend our lives doing - for me it’s about honouring our body and having the knowledge (that isn’t fhe latest fad diet ) to know what our bodies need overall so that we build self worth and value ourselves enough to give our bodies that also. This is where the mind and body connection comes in - instead of hating and punishing our bodies with restriction how about we learn to actually love them, even a little bit - they are pretty epic and they do enable us to do an incredible amount even while we are sleeping it’s working away.

There are different types of fats and some are more beneficial than others but as a whole we just really don’t need have this massive amount of anxiety over them we need them as part of our diet , avocado and eggs on toast is life and if you’re now putting a decent amount of peanut butter on toast so it melts nicely I would recommend some manuka honey or any honey on the top or even a banana (another topic as I know many that fear a banana due to its high carb / sugar content 🤯)

Another thing to take note of is that a lot of ‘low fat’ foods can be higher in sugar and chemicals as they have to replace the fat and also it’s a bit of a mind thing for me so

When I fell into this ‘low fat’ ‘low cal’ trap I would have a much bigger portion of said food because I could right because it was low this and that. When I have the real version of said food I tend to be satisfied with a lesser amount and it tastes a lot better . But this is another topic for another day.

Freedom around food doesn’t mean a lifetime of fast food like some people fear when they break the diet cycle .

And yes to start with because you have deprived yourself of so many ‘bad’ foods (remember no such thing, food is food!) for so long you may well do what I did and make your way around conquering all your fear foods which actually is great! 😃 because you are neutralising them and ridding the fear of actually eating them and enjoying them.

It’s a bizarre process of which a lot of the things I had dreamt up to be this insane forbidden meal I never even really blink at now let alone crave , however I had to go through this process to find freedom around foods and rid the dieting cycle.

This is something that I can fully support you to go through while teaching you the fundamentals of nutrition and NLP techniques to conquer emotional eating and disordered eating and positive body image and self worth.

My pups been sick and needing round the clock care so i actually don’t think have met my 5 a day for days now ….

Example of food freedom here …. My body is screaming for a home cooked nutritious meal and I whipped up this turkey mince pie quite quickly , little prep and the whole meal will give me my 5 a day plus protein plus carb and a little fat.

I’m not a one for recipes I tend to just go with the flow and it usually works out , it’s quite an old fashioned meal however 1. Cheap 2. Quick to prep and make and 3. Really yummy

1 onion chopped and fried
Add turkey mince to the pan
Cook
Peel and chop carrots
Add them to the pan
Add 2 cups water
1 chicken stock cube
Simmer until carrots softened
Add peas and sweetcorn
Some gravy granules
Put in a baking dish

Meanwhile
Peel and chop sweet potatoes
Boil until soft
Mash with a splash of milk
Put on top of the mince in the dish
Use a fork to even out
Add a sprinkle of cheese if you wish (I fancied Red Leicester today)

Broccoli 🥦 on the side

Calories per portion - unknown …. Tastes good though 👌
