Happy Hanukkah to everyone celebrating.
We read our Haunkah story and counted the candles on the Menorah. We then each made our own candle.
We discussed how Haunkah is the time for giving and celebrating the light after darkness, we enjoyed reading the story and lifting the flaps in the book.
We also tried Latkes (potato pancakes) and Sufganiyot (jam doughnuts). We watched the stroy of Hanukkah and then retold the story.

“When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow we gave our today.”

We have been learning about Remeberance day, we know it is a celebration of the war being over. We touched on how people give their lives for our future.
We discussed that poppies are a symbol of peace and made our own.
We visited the fusilier museum in Bury and Unsworth Cenotaph.
At 11am we encouraged a 2 minute silence to think about the heros we have in our lives

Happy Halloween!
We have been learning about how Halloween originated from Irland, it symbolises the beginning of winter.
In Ireland faces were carved into room vegtables to light the way, we now use Pumpkins (jack-o-lanterns) which we enjoyed decorating and then exploring what was inside and what it tasted like.
We then enjoyed a party with Halloween games
