🥾🌿 Monthly Staff Hike - Kinder Scout, Peak District

On Sunday, six of us (plus a very happy dog 🐶) took on a 13km loop to the Kinder Scout summit, passing Kinder Downfall and Kinder Reservoir on the way down. The pace was relaxed, the challenge was real, and the fresh air was perfect for staff welfare and team-building.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined in. Next month’s route is in the works and open to all staff and all fitness levels.

Yesterday we provided full medical support at this year’s Salford Triathlon 🏊🚴🏃, deploying an ambulance, a response vehicle and a two‑bay medical centre. Our team managed a steady stream of minor injuries, with no serious incidents to report.

Congratulations to every athlete who crossed the finish line, and especially to those who claimed new PBs!

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) course has been revamped to deliver a more immersive, hands-on experience and equip you with even more lifesaving skills.

Here’s what’s new and why you’ll love it:

🔷 Brand-New Course Structure 🔷

Renamed to three core units:
• Foundations of Prehospital Emergency Care
• Foundations of Prehospital Trauma Care
• Foundations of Prehospital Emergency Medical Care.

Total Qualification Time ↑ to 55 hrs and Guided Learning Hours ↑ to 37 hrs, making space for crucial new content.

🔷 Updated Content 🔷

Significant updates to better align with modern prehospital care practices such as:
• Dynamic Scene Management
• Patient Assessment Skills
• Moving & Handling in Emergencies
• Latest Guidance on Trauma & Medical Care
• Advanced Clinical Communication

6 x mandatory skills assessments, all scenario-based so you practise multiple skills together, just like in real-life situations.

1 x 40 question MCQ paper (pass mark 28) covering essential anatomy, physiology, and clinical decision-making.

Optional pathways to tailor training to specific roles (e.g. ambulance services, remote/austere settings).

Safe administration of Penthrox
