The Counselling and Family Centre

The Counselling and Family Centre CFC - by your side 'for whatever life throws at you'. Counselling is for anything that is troubling you.

We offer counselling from the age of 5 onward, as well as learning, support groups, and training for well-being in the work place. We can help you to make better sense of what’s happening in your life – all you need to do is pick up the phone, email or call in at the Centre

You are not alone – in Britain each year around 1 in 4 of us will experience emotional and mental health problems

We offer counselling to adult individuals, couples, families, and to children and young people from 5 years old. Additionally we provide support for families affected by addiction and parents affected by pregnancy and birth issues. Beyond counselling we provide self improvement courses and workshops for all, and training workshops for counsellors and health professionals. We have helped people through loss and bereavement, anxiety and stress, panic attacks, low self esteem, relationship problems, redundancy, domestic violence and abuse, depression and low mood……and many, many more problems. Let us help you to discover more about yourself and your inner strengths, sort out your needs and priorities, make decisions, accept what can and cannot be changed, find more effective ways of coping and decide what’s really important for you – you will never be judged or criticised.

Week one of Connected Parents focuses on foundations.

We explore what neurodiversity really means, challenge common myths, and look at the language we use when talking about neurodivergent children. It’s also a chance to reflect on your hopes, challenges, and what support you need as a parent.

A gentle place to begin.

We are incredibly grateful to our much-valued partners at Add People - Digital Marketing for their amazing donation of £2,538 !!
What makes this support so special is how it was raised. Through sheer determination, teamwork and generosity, including taking on the Three Peaks challenge and a host of other fundraising events, the Add People team went above and beyond.
This isn’t just a donation. It’s time, effort, heart, and a genuine belief in our work supporting individuals, children, young people and families when they need it most.
Partnerships like this remind us that when businesses and charities work together with shared values, real change happens.
Thank you, , for standing alongside us, for putting wellbeing into action, and for being such an important part of our charity community. We’re so proud of what we’re achieving together.

Hugs can be comforting, grounding and a way of feeling close to someone, but they’re not for everyone. Some people don’t enjoy physical touch, and others may not have someone to hug right now. And that’s okay.

Connection can look many different ways. A kind message. Sitting quietly with someone. A smile, a check-in, or simply offering space when it’s needed. Even self-care can be a form of comfort, wrapping yourself in a blanket, taking a deep breath, or doing something that makes you feel safe.

Today is a reminder that warmth and care don’t have to be physical to be meaningful. What matters most is feeling seen, respected and understood.

This course is rooted in neuro-affirming principles.

Connected Parents shifts away from a deficit model and instead focuses on difference, strengths, and understanding. Every child is unique, and every family’s journey looks different.

There is no judgement here, only curiosity, compassion, and support.

Sometimes words aren’t enough.
In our recent supervision group, counsellors explored their work using miniatures, a powerful, creative way to reflect, process and gain new perspectives on complex client material.
Creative methods in supervision can help practitioners step back, notice patterns, and reconnect with their intuition, all within a safe and supportive space.
Supporting the wellbeing of those who support others matters.
Monthly clinical supervision is an integral part of counsellors' ethical practice, fostering reflection, curiosity, and greater self-awareness in their work with clients.
Group supervision offers curiosity and supportive challenge from multiple members alongside the supervisor who facilitates the group.

These images capture counsellors using miniatures in supervision, a creative and reflective approach that allows practitioners to explore client work beyond traditional discussion.
