Welcome to our new GP

We are pleased to welcome Dr Joe Amissah-Arthur, who has joined Chorlton Family Practice this week. Dr Amissah-Arthur will be seeing patients on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, helping to increase clinical capacity and improve access for our patients. An update for our patients – December service performance:

We want to share a brief update on how the practice has recently been performing and how we continue to improve access to our services.

In December, the practice supported over 22,500 registered patients and managed more than 10,000 patient contacts, including appointments, prescriptions, referrals, and administrative support. This was a very busy winter period, but we are pleased to report several positive improvements.

Patients experienced shorter waiting times on the phone, with calls being answered more quickly and significantly fewer missed calls compared to the previous month. Many concerns were dealt with more efficiently at first contact, reducing the need for callbacks.

Our clinical teams delivered a wide range of care, including face-to-face and telephone appointments, online consultations, and home visits, while our pharmacy team supported thousands of patients with medication queries and prescription requests. Behind the scenes, staff also processed a very high volume of clinical documents and referrals to ensure continuity and safety of care.

While demand remains high, particularly during winter, we are encouraged that access and responsiveness have improved. We continue to review how we work so that patients can contact us more easily and receive the right care, at the right time, from the right professional.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for continuing to work with us to use services appropriately.

Patient Participation Group Meeting Update – December 2025

Thank you to all patients who attended our December PPG meeting. We had an excellent turnout and a productive discussion covering digital access, winter pressures, staffing updates and patient experience.

We shared progress since the August meeting, including three successful NHS App and PATCHS sign-up events, improvements to reception processes, and ongoing work to support patients who need help using digital tools. Feedback on PATCHS continues to be mixed, and your comments are helping us refine the system and support patients more effectively.

The practice remains very busy during the winter months, but we are working hard to maintain safe and timely access. Three new administrative staff have joined the team, and we have appointed a new GP, with nurse recruitment ongoing.

We have also updated our notice boards with seasonal health advice, vaccination information and self-care guidance, and a new staff photo board will soon be on display to help patients recognise members of the team.

Thank you again to all who contributed. Your feedback continues to shape improvements within the practice. Information about the next meeting will be shared early in the new year.

We are very keen to expand our Patient Participation Group and welcome more patients to join us. If you would like to become part of the PPG, please let us know by emailing gmicb-mh.chorltonfamilypractice@nhs.net
, submitting a PATCHS form, phoning the practice, or speaking to a member of the team in person. Your voice is important, and we would be delighted to have you involved.

β€’ A blotchy red rash (usually starts on the face and spreads)

πŸ‘‰ If you develop symptoms, please DO NOT attend the practice or A&E in person.

🦠 World AMR Awareness Week – 18–24 November 2025
This week we’re raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) when germs become resistant to medicines like antibiotics.

πŸ’Š Antibiotics don’t work for colds or flu.
🀲 Good hand hygiene and vaccinations protect everyone.
πŸ—£οΈ Only take antibiotics when prescribed, and always finish the course.

Together we can keep antibiotics working for today and for the future. πŸ’™
