A great read and an even greater reason to check in with yourself this weekend.

How do you speak to yourself?
Are your thoughts positive or negative?
Would perhaps establishing some new core beliefs help to quieten negative thoughts?

Through the mental lens: core beliefs and psychosis.

This new systematic review of 79 studies shows:

🧩 Negative self-beliefs (like “I’m worthless”) and negative other-beliefs (like “people can’t be trusted”) are linked to hallucinations, paranoia, and suicidality.

⚠️ Trauma plays a key role in shaping these schemas.

💡 Therapies that reduce negative beliefs and build positive ones may offer new hope.

We’re delighted to announce that Northern Healthcare has been named a finalist in the Public Private Partnership category at the 2025 LaingBuisson Awards!

This recognition celebrates our partnership with Bury Council in the creation of Saxon House, our move-on supported living service, which offers a vital step-down for people transitioning from 24/7 supported living towards greater independence.

We’re incredibly proud of what this partnership has achieved and are excited to see the positive impact Saxon House continues to make.

From ready-made to home-made, one of the people we support at Moss Lodge has been building confidence in the kitchen, now preparing dishes like fajitas, omelettes, and pasta carbonara. 🍝🍳

Using a weekly nutrition planner, they’re cooking independently, shopping more efficiently, and reducing food waste. It's a brilliant step towards healthier living and long-term independence!

💡Why not try a new dinner idea this week? Make the prepping, cooking and serving process as enjoyable as possible.

At Merchants House, one of the people we support has transformed their garden into a colourful, welcoming space filled with plants, flowers, and grassy spots. By caring for the garden daily, she’s not only brought the space to life 🌿🌼 but also seen a big boost in her confidence.

Her dedication has created a place for everyone to enjoy, and she takes pride in continuing to find new ways to improve it. A true example of how self-expression and connection with nature can nurture well-being.

Northern Healthcare | Our Story

Northern Healthcare is a specialist provider of enhanced supported living services. Our multi-disciplinary teams care for people who may need day-to-day support due to their mental health, a learning disability or brain injury.

Established in 2013 with the opening of our first supported residential service, we have expanded across the UK and now have over 15 enhanced supported living facilities. We are privileged to be able to support our residents and we are dedicated to growing our reach across the UK, improving our residents’ quality of life and delivering the highest quality of care.

We work in partnership with external practitioners and community care teams to ensure robust risk management, and ultimately the best possible outcomes for all our residents.

Our aims are always as unique as each individual we support. We pride ourselves on our clinically led, recovery focused model, which provides individuals with access to high-quality nursing, occupational and psychological therapies, as well as dedicated 24-hour support. We develop care plans alongside our residents; their personal goals and aspirations are always at the heart of everything we do.
