Free Mindfulness Challenge.

If you struggle to be PRESENT in the moment, many people I know struggle with mindfulness.

They can’t be PRESENT in the moment. They don’t know how to truly be at PEACE and relax. They’re caught in the past or the future. They feel harried, rushed, and SCATTERED.

Is this you? Do you feel the same way?

This 5 day Mindfulness Challenge I think can REALLY help you.
It’s a totally FREE 5-day challenge that will help you significantly grow in mindfulness.

Each day I will post a video with a reflection and an action to take. The reflection will get you to think about something important, and then you will take action.

The goal?

To help you become more MINDFUL in 5 days or less.
Wouldn’t that be AMAZING! Imagine the difference in the amount of joy you would experience.

The FREE challenge starts on Monday 25th April over in the Managing Midlife group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/managingmidlife

This group is for midlife women and if you don't fit that category PM me and I can email out the challenge to you.

Pop a yes in the comments to let me know if you’ll be participating in the challenge.

Immature brains do not have the ability to remove cortisol/stress alone. They learn to do so by *repeated* experiences of being soothed by their caregiver.

'Repeated'. Hundreds and hundreds of times. Not just experiences of being soothed and comforted in the fourth trimester or in the first 12 months.... Toddlers require adult help when they are distressed in order to truly 'soothe' internally. So will children. So will teens. So will adults.

External silence does not automatically mean internal calm, and internal calm is the goal.

For internal calm to be achieved, adult help is needed. The presence of a caring adult who can truly help the little one soothe inside.

Do you suffer from chronic pain?
Does it prevent you living the life you want to live?

Pain is an important signal which lets you know something is wrong but if pain is chronic and all attempts to treat have been exhausted, those signals have passed their usefulness.

Pain can be malleable. The brain can consciously attend to so much at one time. There will be times when you are so absorbed in something that you can actually forget about your pain. The brain no longer registers it and this is a source of great hope. The way we perceive pain is more relevant to our minds than our bodies and our minds can be reprogrammed.

Hypnosis can help!

A research paper from 2020 reported that adults using hypnosis for chronic pain experienced a ‘medium-large’ reduction in pain intensity and studies show that more than 75% of people with arthritis and related diseases experience significant pain relief using hypnosis.

Hypnosis isn’t about convincing you that you don’t feel pain. It’s about helping you manage the fear and anxiety you feel about that pain. It will relax you and redirect your attention from the sensation of pain. Hypnosis makes use of the mind-body connection and demonstrates how thoughts and feelings can influence physical health in the same way as physical health can influence mental health.

Hypnosis a helpful, non-drug therapy. It has no side effects and will help you manage discomfort more effectively, feel mentally calm and relaxed, sleep soundly, feel motivated to do more the things you enjoy.

Help your body dial down its perception of pain - today!

I've been incredibly frustrated lately at several media pieces covering 'Gentle Parenting'.

I understand that they need attention grabbing headlines and extreme examples, but the truth of the matter is that this style of parenting is anything but extreme. Frankly, it's a little dull. It's monotonous. It's hard work. It doesn't produce quick results and it doesn't make for contentious, dramatic accounts. I rarely recognise the media examples, billed as ‘gentle parenting’, as the style I write/talk about, in fact I recognise them more as a permissive style.

Most importantly though, Gentle Parenting is absolutely NOT about having no control over your children. It is absolutely NOT about letting them do what they want, having few or no boundaries, and avoiding saying "no".

You actually say "no" a lot. You make your children cry sometimes when you discipline them, or work to keep them safe. That's unavoidable. You have routines and predictability to the day.

You also don't have to be a martyr and sacrifice your emotional or physical health for your children. It's about balance and compromise.

Finally, you don't need to be an earth mother/father. You don't have to be naturally calm/zen (or natural anything TBH). It's OK to lose your temper now and again and it's OK to want/need time away from your children.

None of that is good click bait though 🙄
