Mounjaro Update💉

In line with current guidance, a phased approach to weight management medication will rollout within primary care settings and initially Tirzepatide ( Mounjaro ) will only be available on the NHS to those with the highest clinical need.

This would include problems listed ( dyslipidaemia, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus ) AND a BMI of 40 or more will be eligible to access Tirzepatide ( Mounjaro ) through primary care settings.

There are plans to lower this eventually but for the time being, if you do not fit into this criteria then you will not be eligible for this.

We've been made aware of a scam phone call involving someone pretending to be a medical professional from a GP practice. The caller claimed to be a “senior health advisor”, asked about medical conditions, and then tried to sell medication in exchange for bank details.

🚫 THIS IS A SCAM – no genuine NHS staff member will ever ask for payment or banking information over the phone.

📞 The scam number used was: 01900 516 559 – this has been linked to previous fraud attempts.

🟣 World IBD Day | 19 May 2025 🟣

Today we stand with over 500,000 people in the UK living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - and the thousands more diagnosed each year.

🔍 What is IBD?
IBD is an umbrella term for two lifelong conditions: Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
These are serious autoimmune conditions where the body’s immune system attacks the gut, causing inflammation, pain, fatigue, diarrhoea, and other distressing symptoms.

There is no cure yet, and symptoms can come and go in unpredictable flare-ups, affecting every part of a person’s life - from work to relationships to mental wellbeing.

💜 This year's theme is Courage.

Because living with IBD means:
✔️ Managing symptoms others can’t see
✔️ Facing stigma and misunderstanding
✔️ Navigating treatments, surgery, or hospital stays
✔️ And still showing up - for family, for work, for life

Courage isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s just getting out of bed when your body hurts. Asking for help. Talking about symptoms that are hard to share.

We’re pleased to let our patients know that we’re supporting the upcoming Walk-In Health MOT Clinics, being delivered in partnership with Rebuild with Hope Wigan, Wigan Central and North Primary Care Networks, SWAN Primary Care Network, and Hindley Primary Care Network.

Rebuild with Hope is a local charity, dedicated to helping people overcome barriers to employment and rebuild their lives.

Throughout May, a series of free, drop-in mini health check clinics will be running at their town centre site - and all our registered patients aged 18 and over are welcome to attend.
