Meet Nicola from Ashton, who has helped raise over £5000 for cancer charities after her own breast cancer diagnosis. She teamed up with Bosom Buddies to create a charity calendar supporting Tameside Macmillan and Prevent Breast Cancer. Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group for women across Tameside and surrounding areas.

Nicola discovered a pea-sized lump during a self-check in May 2024 and was quickly referred to Tameside’s breast clinic. Diagnosed with stage two breast cancer, she underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy — and is now sharing her story to encourage others to check regularly.

This Menopause Awareness Day we share some good news coming out of North Manchester.

North Manchester’s first menopause and perimenopause hub has been helping people since September 2024.

Funded by Winning Hearts and Minds, a public health initiative under Manchester City Council and Jigsaw Housing - the hub has become a long-term community resource offering drop-in sessions, expert speakers, and a growing support network.

Pelvic health services are available in the NHS to support people with advice, tools and treatment that really works.
