🌟 Carers Manchester Drop‑In at The Park Medical Centre 🌟
The Carers Manchester team are here today until 3pm offering free advice, support, and guidance for anyone who looks after a loved one.
If you help a family member, friend, neighbour, or partner because they couldn’t manage without your support, you might be an unpaid carer — even if you don’t think of yourself as one.
💙 What is an unpaid carer?
An unpaid carer is someone who provides support to a person who has:
• A disability
•A long‑term health condition
•Mental health needs
•Dementia
•Addiction issues
•Age‑related needs
This support might include things like helping with medication, attending appointments, cooking, cleaning, emotional support, or simply being the person they rely on day‑to‑day.
🤔 Why do so many people not realise they are carers?
Many people see what they do as “just helping out” or “what families do”. Others don’t use the word carer because:
•Their caring role developed gradually
•They feel it’s their responsibility, not a separate role
•They don’t live with the person they support
•They think carers are only people employed to provide care
But recognising yourself as a carer is important. It means you can access support, advice, financial guidance, and your own wellbeing resources.
📍 Drop in today
If any of this sounds like you, or someone you know, come along to our drop‑in at The Park Medical Centre before 3pm. The Carers Manchester team are here to chat, answer questions, and help you access the support you deserve.
