15th Feb
We’re rather in awe of the great mix of events on offer at Microdot at Alderly Park... Marvel at Luke Jerram’s Gaia, a giant floating model of Earth complete with detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface, take a yoga class underneath your own planet, learn how to fly a drone, take a treasure hunt, ponder ‘Who wants to be a superhero’ with a show by Experience Tech Made Simple and round the day off with some sustenance at the pop up food and drink stalls. Wackily wonderful!
9am-4pm book your free ticket ahead - yoga requires separate free tickets

Move it!
The Science and Industry Museum knows how to reel in children and toddlers. Made Up Machines is for kids ages 7+ and they’ll use their imaginations to create a machine to transport goods – will it push, pull, drop or lift? Everyone’s welcome to find out how the way we travel has changed in the interactive science show, and little ones aged 3+ can make something that moves then test it in the Experiment Zone. Who doesn’t want to go there?!
Made up Machines daily, 11.00am, 11.30am, 12pm and 12.30pm. Make It Move, drop in 2pm-4pm

All week
Go underground
Over fives will love donning a hard hat and carrying a lamp as they descend 140m underground on a tour down one of Britain’s oldest working mines led by an ex-miner. They’ll learn about mining through the centuries, from pit ponies to canaries and the kids who worked there too. Will they be grateful they’re not forced to work in a dark, dank hole? Probably not!! Until 1st March you can also catch the fascinating Dig Deep: Miners of African Caribbean Heritage exhibition.
7 days a week, book your tour ahead.

Here is a lovely example of how to develop and extend language through play.

The childminder is face to face and on the child's level.

You can hear the childminder:
• gain the child's attention by using her name
• offer the child choices
• follow the child's interest during play
