Shockwave Therapy is now available at our clinic in Sale.
We’re combining it with Osteopathy/Chiropractic treatment to help people struggling with long-standing tendon and muscle pain.

Shockwave is an evidence-based treatment shown to help with:
• Plantar fasciitis / heel pain
• Achilles tendinopathy
• Patellar tendon pain
• Tennis elbow
• Gluteal/hip tendinopathy
• Shoulder tendon issues
• Chronic muscular pain

The combination of hands-on treatment + targeted shockwave + a personalised rehab plan often gives faster and longer-lasting results than any single approach on its own.

If you’d like to know whether shockwave is suitable for your condition, message us — WhatsApp is usually the quickest.
Appointments are now open.

🌟 Lower Limb Compensation: Why Your Pain Isn’t Always From Where You Feel It 🌟

It’s common for people to experience lower back pain during bending movements, even when the back isn’t the true source of the problem.

A classic example is reduced hip flexion.
When the hips don’t move well—whether from stiffness, muscle tightness or weakness—the lower back has to bend more to make up for the lack of hip movement.

Over time, this extra load means the lower back works harder than it should → leading to tightness, strain, and pain.

This is something we see every day in clinic:
➡️ The cause is often somewhere else, not where the pain is.

We assess the whole lower limb—hips, knees, ankles, feet—to find out why the back is compensating and what needs to change.

If you’ve been dealing with recurring lower back, hip, or leg pain, a full-body assessment can give you answers and direction.

At our clinic, patient safety comes first in every consultation and every treatment we offer — and that includes our newest service: Shockwave Therapy, now officially available.

In this clip, Jackie (retiring osteopath) demonstrates safe shoulder shockwave technique, including why we never angle the applicator toward the lung. Shockwave delivers powerful pressure waves, so precise angling ensures the treatment stays focused on the tendon and soft tissues, not sensitive areas like the lung.

Shockwave Therapy is now fully launched at the clinic and is ideal for stubborn issues such as:
• Plantar fasciitis
• Achilles pain
• Patellar tendinopathy
• Tennis elbow
• Shoulder tendons

Safe. Effective. Evidence-based.
If you’d like to know whether shockwave can help your condition, message us here or on WhatsApp for the quickest reply.

🚀 New Treatment Arriving Next Week: Swiss DolorClast Shockwave Therapy
(For stubborn tendon & muscle pain)

We’re excited to announce that our clinic will be adding Radial Shockwave Therapy next week — using the Swiss DolorClast Smart 20, the gold-standard system backed by strong clinical research.

Shockwave is ideal for those stubborn injuries that haven’t shifted with normal physio, massage or exercise rehab, including:

• Plantar Fasciitis / heel pain
• Achilles Tendinopathy
• Patellar / kneecap tendon pain
• Tennis elbow
• Gluteal tendinopathy (outside hip pain)
• Proximal hamstring pain
• Rotator cuff issues
• Chronic muscular trigger points

Why Shockwave?

Shockwave delivers high-energy pulses into tissue, stimulating your body’s own healing response. It increases blood flow, resets injured tendon cells, and reduces nerve sensitivity — making it perfect for long-standing injuries.

Most people need 3–6 sessions, one per week, alongside a targeted rehab plan.

Launching Next Week

We’re finalising pricing this week and will open bookings shortly.
If you’d like to be added to the early access list, drop us a message here or WhatsApp.

This will be a popular service — especially for plantar fasciitis and Achilles issues — so get in early!

Peripheral Joint Injuries — Not Just a Local Problem

At Manchester Spinal Health, we don’t just focus on the spine.
Many persistent pain cases originate from peripheral joint dysfunctions — issues affecting load transfer, proprioception, and kinetic chain efficiency.

Common presentations include:
• Plantar fasciitis — often linked with altered foot biomechanics or reduced ankle dorsiflexion.
• Tendinopathies — such as Achilles or patellar tendon pain, typically resulting from overload and poor force distribution.
• Lateral/medial epicondylalgia (tennis or golfer’s elbow) — commonly secondary to shoulder or wrist compensations.

Our approach combines joint mobilisation, soft tissue techniques, and functional rehabilitation to restore optimal movement patterns and reduce recurrence.

Pain is rarely isolated — it’s usually a reflection of how the body compensates elsewhere.

Shoulder & Rib Adjustments – Restoring Motion After Release ⚙️

Yesterday you saw the soft tissue work — today’s the joint adjustments from the same session.

Our client, a barista from a world-renowned café in Manchester, came in with neck and shoulder tension from long hours at work.
After releasing the muscles (TMJ, traps, subclavius, infraspinatus, levator scapulae), we finished with:
✅ Rib adjustments – freeing up breathing and shoulder mechanics
✅ ACJ & SCJ adjustments – restoring clavicle motion and shoulder rhythm

These small joints make a huge difference in how the neck and shoulder move together.
When released correctly, you can see the whole system relax instantly.

——

If your neck or shoulder feels stuck or restricted, don’t wait for it to “ease off” — get assessed properly.

Neck & Shoulder Rehab – 5 Key Soft Tissue Techniques

1️⃣ TMJ release (reducing jaw tension & neural tension through the trigeminal pathway)
2️⃣ Subclavius release (freeing up the shoulder girdle & first rib mechanics)
3️⃣ Upper Traps (decreasing tonic overactivity from posture & stress)
4️⃣ Infraspinatus (key stabiliser often overloaded with repetitive arm use)
5️⃣ Levator Scapulae (relieving that classic “tight neck” pain pattern)

——

This patient’s a barista + desk worker—hours of repetitive arm use and poor ergonomics led to chronic shoulder and neck tightness.
After just one session, her range and pain improved. This was session two, focusing on releasing tension and restoring shoulder rhythm before progressing to joint adjustments (coming tomorrow 👀).

——

If you’re dealing with neck or shoulder pain, tension headaches, or stiffness that keeps coming back — you don’t need to just “put up with it.”

“I’ve not done anything different… why has the pain started now?”

A patient in his mid-50s said this to me recently — and it’s one of the most common questions I hear.

The truth is, pain rarely appears out of nowhere. It’s usually the result of accumulated stress over many years.

In his case, he’s had a desk job for over 30 years, sitting around 8 hours a day. Add to that gradually reduced exercise, a bit of weight gain, and muscle loss that naturally happens with age — and the body eventually reaches its limit.

Did you know we lose around 3–8% of our muscle mass per decade after the age of 30?
Muscle is one of the biggest protectors for the spine. When it weakens, the joints and discs take the strain — leading to stiffness, degeneration and eventually pain.

Once a problem that’s been brewing for years finally shows up, it can take time to fully sort it.

That’s why we take a thorough approach:
🔍 Detailed examination
⚕️ Tailored treatment
🏠 Home care & exercise plan
💪 A structured course to rebuild and strengthen — not just short-term relief, but long-term correction.

If you’re starting to feel those signs of “wear and tear,” don’t ignore them — the earlier we act, the better the long-term outcome.

Pain is the symptom — not the problem 🧠

Most people treat pain like the problem itself. But in reality, pain is your body’s way of protecting you from something deeper — often poor movement, joint stiffness, nerve irritation, or muscular imbalance.

When we assess someone, we’re not only looking at where it hurts — we’re analysing why the body is moving that way in the first place.
A stiff lower back might come from a weak hip.
Neck pain might come from shoulder tension or rib restriction.
Nerve irritation often comes from mechanical compression higher up the spine.

This is why real recovery doesn’t come from chasing pain. It comes from correcting the mechanics that created it.

At Manchester Spinal Health, our clinicians use detailed assessment and advanced manual therapy to restore proper movement and nervous system balance — so the body can actually heal, not just cope.
