Wow 🤍 What an amazing morning at our very first Beyond Calories: Making Sense of Weight Loss for Women workshop.

Dr Rachel Hewitt and I hosted our first session at Sante, West Didsbury, and it was absolutely fantastic.

The room was full of brilliant, open, engaged women, and the session was incredibly interactive.

Together, we:
Broke down the barriers that have been holding people back from weight loss success

Reflected on what they’ve tried before — what’s worked well and what’s felt really hard

Explored practical ways to overcome those barriers in a supportive, realistic way

What was so powerful was seeing the common themes emerge:
✨ prioritising everyone else before yourself
✨ feeling like there’s “no time”
✨ and knowing that group support and accountability really do make a difference

There’s so much more to share as we start to break down the insights from the workshop — and we’re very excited to announce that we’re launching an in-person 8-week, 6-part programme in Cheadle Hulme, starting 27th February.

More details coming very soon, but if you’d like to know more in the meantime, please feel free to drop me a DM 💬

Thank you to the amazing Nicki Cameron for capturing our day with our guests - we will be sharing those images as soon as they are ready!

What a fantastic day visiting Aura Networking at Alderley Park, hosted by the fabulous Nicola Smithson

Not only is it Aura’s third birthday 🎉, but Nicola is also about to launch Aura in the City – such an exciting next chapter and so well deserved.

I was absolutely delighted to be invited to speak to the Aura women about how we can use the power of nutrition to support our health in 2026. The energy in the room was wonderful, the conversations were thoughtful, and the questions were brilliant – it’s always such a joy to speak to women who are genuinely curious about looking after their health in a realistic, sustainable way.

I had a fantastic time and I’ll definitely be back next month.

Thank you, Nicola, for such a warm welcome and an amazing day ❤️

Webinar ready ☕️
A cup of hot water by my side - it’s a bit too late for tea 🤣 - this one was about Achieving Your Goals.

I have moved away from resolutions and instead I prefer to focus on goals.

Because resolutions often rely on willpower. And willpower might work in the short term… but eventually it runs out. When that happens, we tend to blame ourselves and feel like we’ve failed.

Goals are different.

Goals give us something to journey towards. They allow space for small, simple steps - taken consistently - rather than trying to change everything at once.

In the session, we:
✅Broke the ultimate goal down into manageable steps
✅Looked at obstacles that have got in the way in the past
✅Explored how those obstacles could be overcome
✅Identified who could support us along the way
✅And turned intentions into SMART goals - specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely

This is the approach I use to help women make healthful choices that actually become part of their everyday lives.

I’ll be diving deeper into this work:

📅This Thursday 22nd January with Dr Rachael Hewitt, specialist in health behaviour change, at my workshop in Sante, West Didsbury

💡And in our 8-week, 6-session in-person course: Beyond Calories – Redefining Weight Loss for Women starting February 27th.

Today we kicked off 2026 with our first Women in Business Altrincham & Hale Group meeting - and despite a last-minute venue change, it was a brilliant start to the year.

A huge thank you to Hannah Grahame from The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) for so kindly hosting us at their farm. CAFT does incredible work supporting terminally ill children, disabled children and their families through day visits and short breaks, and it was a privilege to spend our morning in such a special place.

Our spotlight speaker was Bernadette Willems -The Mediation Specialist , who shared insight into her work as a mediator. She spoke about how separation doesn’t have to be adversarial or fuelled by conflict. Mediation offers a structured, confidential process that helps people make informed decisions at an emotionally challenging time. With her background as a solicitor, Bernadette also supports clients in navigating legal jargon with clarity, guidance and respect — and she even offers a complimentary call for anyone considering mediation.

Our business topic came from the wonderful Helen Greenwood, content coach, who reminded us just how powerful visual content can be. In 2025 alone, over two trillion photos were taken - that’s around five billion every single day (and I suspect quite a few are on my phone 📸). Images are quicker to absorb than text and help us build connection, trust and relatability with our audience. Helen shared some fantastic, practical tips that I’m sure many of us will be putting into action.

If you’re new to networking, returning after a break, or simply curious about joining a supportive and welcoming group of women in business, please do reach out - we’d love to have you with us. Get in touch with Beckie Thirsk about here WiBN groups.

Barbara Rayner & Sue Chadwick - wonderful to see you both too as always.

🍲 Super Simple, Super Delicious Spiced Squash & Sweet Potato Soup

This soup is an absolute winner - easy to make, full of flavour, and perfect for this time of year when you want something quick before a busy day, buffet, or Christmas meal! 🎄

Here’s how to make it:
🥄 Ingredients:
• ½ crown prince squash, diced
• 3 sweet potatoes, diced
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tsp cumin
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1 tsp turmeric
• Black pepper, to taste
• 1 cup red lentils
• 6 cups stock
• 1 sachet creamed coconut
• Handful of spinach

Method:
1. Roast the diced squash and sweet potatoes in the air fryer. Keep the skins on, they add fibre and help you feel full!
2. In a pan, heat olive oil and fry onion and garlic until softened.
3. Add the spices: cumin, paprika, turmeric, and black pepper.
4. Stir in the red lentils, stock, and creamed coconut.
5. Cover and simmer until everything is cooked through.
6. Add spinach and cook until wilted, then blitz until smooth.
7. Freeze in portions for quick lunches or easy weeknight meals.

💡 Tip: Keeping the skins on your squash and sweet potatoes boosts fibre and keeps you satisfied for longer!

Comforting, nourishing, and ready in no time. Perfect for this festive season!
