Please say hi to the lovely Louise πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Hi I'm Louise, a yoga teacher based in Urmston. It took a few attempts to pluck up the courage to go to my first yoga class almost 25 years ago now - but I wanted to see if it could help with my scoliosis. I soon realised it could help me with my aches and pains as I stretched my spine and strengthened my body. Not only that, yoga has empowered me to help myself through self-compassion, understanding and acceptance. It had such a profound effect on me that in 2012 I decided to train to be a yoga teacher! I now teach yoga for backcare to help others who'd like to take care of their back either because of a specific issue or simply to keep it strong as we move through different life stages. I teach a slow style of yoga that will show you how to move mindfully with the breath, create space in the joints and strengthen the muscles to create more comfort and alignment. As a result you'll feel more at ease in your body and mind, helping you to feel less stressed and more empowered to care for your back.

Today is good day to remember about self care and showing your body some love ❀️. Try putting your legs up the wall (or a chair) and letting go. Put a folded blanket under your pelvis, perhaps a belt around your thighs and treat yourself to an eye pillow. Breathe gently and deeply. Repeat a lovely message to yourself. Take care x

November is Men's Mental Health Awareness month - especially important in prisons, where the risk of dying by su***de is 3.9 times greater than for the general male population, with 93 deaths last year.

🧘 We are helping prisons bring the mental and physical health benefits of yoga and meditation to the people in their care.

🧘 Anyone working in a prison in the UK or Ireland can order yoga handouts and a specialist DVD, book or CD here: https://www.theppt.org.uk/resources/

🧘 We can also support prisons with group classes important for nurturing healthy social interaction.

I had a wonderful weekend away at The Tree Relaxation Retreat on the North York moors this week. Lots of amazing food, beautiful surroundings and frequent gong baths. It was blissful and just what I needed after a stressful few months. This simple advice from a tree really inspired me! ☺️

As we head into late summer and early autumn we can feel a bit off kilter. The changing of the seasons can unsettle our body and minds. A grounding yoga practice that focuses on our connection to the earth through our feet and legs can help. Tree pose is excellent! https://www.yogajournal.com/poses/tree-pose-2/

I'm sure lots of you were invited to have a relaxing bank holiday by friends and colleagues over the past few days. Ever since I entered the world of work I've always looked forward to a long weekend to decompress and recharge. But does it always happen?? Not necessarily πŸ€”. Learning to rest and relax is a skill and requires practice!

Adding active rest poses into your yoga practice is a really effective way of encouraging your body and mind to rest. Often our bodies are more receptive to rest if it's been moved, stretched and worked. I love viparita karani (legs up the wall) to calm and relax the body. It's not called the great rejuvenater for nothing! It works both at the beginning and end of a practice so it's very versatile. It's great for those of us with back issues too. Try it for 10-15 minutes at the end of each day this weekend and see what happens ☺️❀️.

yoga teacher

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. I first discovered yoga twenty years ago to help me manage the physical discomfort of scoliosis but found it also helped with the emotional side of living with a chronic condition, bringing a sense of calm and harmony between my (wonky!) body and mind.

I teach hatha yoga focusing on building up to classic postures safely and with breath awareness to create a greater ease of movement and relaxation. I also incorporate a range of breathing techniques and restorative postures into my classes to aid relaxation and release tension. I'm available for: - class bookings (corporate and yoga studio) - ad-hoc workshops or tasters for community groups / charities - individual/paired sessions in your own home. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. I'm a registered yoga teacher (200 hours) with Yoga Alliance Professionals.
