“I think, quite dangerously, high levels of perfectionism can actually reduce our professional skill…”
This was one of the most powerful moments from my conversation with Jo Turner this week.
We often think perfection makes us better - but in reality, it can make us hesitate, hold back, and ultimately do less. I see it all the time… people so worried about getting it wrong that they stop acting altogether.
And in professions where growth comes from experience, that’s a problem.
In this episode, Jo and I talk about:
• Perfectionism & imposter syndrome
• Why fear sits underneath so much of it
• The difference between coaching vs mentoring
• And how creating a safe environment to fail actually leads to better outcomes
Because the truth is - progress doesn’t come from playing it safe. It comes from being willing to try, reflect, and go again.
If perfection is the only option… people stop trying.
