The five lower Chakras are associated with the Earth.
The Root Chakra is located at the bottom of the spine, in the perineum region. It is also referred to as the Base Chakra and it corresponds to our connection with our physical body. Our foundation in life & for the other Chakras.
This chakra has the following characteristics or associations:
🔺Colour: Red
🔺Element: Earth
🔺Body Aspect & Parts: Physical aspect, elimination of body waste, re**um, legs, feet, bones (knees, ankles and feet smaller chakra points) large intestine, teeth, testosterone and estrogen.
🔺Primal Instinct: Survival and Procreation.
🔺Phsycological Aspects: Safety, shelter, feeding, ability to provide for yourself.
🔺Resulting in: Grounding.
🔺Orientation to Self: Self-preservation.
🔺Seeds: Kundalini, abundance.
🔺Negative expression: Fear, Abandonment issues, violence, predatory behaviour, birth trauma.
🔺Malfunction: Chronic fatigue, weight problems, sciatica, constipation,hemorrhoids, knee, feet & ankle issues, arthritis.
When it's out of balance or deficient, the colour becomes dull and more towards a brown colour rather than red, and the shape of the wheel is smaller and spins slower. An excessive root chakra spins fast and the colour overpowers the sacral.
In my personal case, my root chakra was completely out of alignment and deficient. My childhood had made me feel very unsafe in the world, I carried abandonment issues and deep fear. Funnily enough, when I was 20, during an 11 hour bus journey, sitting down bruised my coccyx, my body was already screaming at me to pay attention to that area! Back then I didn't want to see though, I was still running away from every feeling and doing my best to survive. One of the aspects I had to work with to restore the health of my root chakra, was with changing the perception and belief I had of the world and my environment.
Here are some suggestions to maintain a healthy Root Chakra (please remember everything in moderation):
🔺Food: Eat Protein, Root vegetables & red foods.
🔺Spices: Cinammon, Ginger, Turmeric.
🔺Herbs: Ashwaganda, Gingsen, Dandelion, Red Clover, Nettle, Hawthorn & Rosemary.
🔺Essential Oils/Incense: Cedarwood, Sandalwood.
🔺Clothes: Wear Red (be careful when you wear this as it may be triggering to others)
🔺Gemstones: Carry or wear a Ruby, red jasper, garnet, hematite, bloodstone.
🔺Exercise/Activities: Qigong, Hatha Yoga, Grounding/Earthing, Grounding Meditation (visualise roots, be held by the floor/earth, gravity), Gardening, Hiking.
🔺Sound Frequency: 396 Hz
🔺Affirmation: I AM
