Back in Rochdale, but today at Deeplish Community Centre!

I’m here today until 3pm sharing awareness on COPD/Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and pushing to find our last few participants.

South Asian people with COPD are significantly less likely to be offered this effective treatment compared to White British people. Even when referred, many face cultural barriers that hinder their engagement and completion.
Your input could help bridge these gaps and make a real difference in respiratory care.

💬 We’re Looking For:
South Asian MALES diagnosed with COPD (this includes Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis) OR experiencing breathlessness, chronic cough, wheeze, and/or sputum production.

🕒 What’s Involved:
A half-hour interview (online or in person) to share your views and experiences.
We will follow up to confirm eligibility by asking a few simple screening questions.

🌍🫁 World COPD Day: Join Our Mission! 🫁🌍
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a specialised program designed to help people with COPD improve their breathing, increase their physical activity, and enhance their overall quality of life.

On this World COPD Day, we're calling all South Asian adults who believe they may have COPD and healthcare professionals who refer to pulmonary rehabilitation to participate in our project.

Your involvement will help improve access, uptake, and retention of South Asian people in pulmonary rehabilitation.

Why Participate?
• Enhance your understanding of COPD management.
• Contribute to vital research aimed at better serving the south Asian community.
• Help us create more inclusive healthcare solutions.

Is getting breathless bringing you down? You are not alone, a lot of people with COPD feel the same.

We are recruiting south Asian people living with COPD to take part in a discussion about Pulmonary Rehabilitation to understand how they feel about it and why they might, or might not, attend the programme.

Participation includes a 45 minute chat, in-person or online, about your experiences with COPD and views on pulmonary rehabilitation. You can skip questions or end anytime.

We'll ask brief eligibility and demographic questions, and record vour voice onlv. Participation is ANONYMOUS and CONFIDENTIAL.

We look forward to hearing from you🙂

Is getting breathless bringing you down?
You are not alone, a lot of people with COPD feel the same.
So what is COPD?
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a health condition that causes breathing difficulties.
- Many people are unaware they have it.
- COPD often affects people who have smoked and/or are exposed to breathing in harmful fumes or dusts, for example at work or in the home.
- Symptoms include shortness of breath, persistent cough, chest infections, and wheezing.
- While Pulmonary Rehabilitation is effective, it is not equally accessible or culturally appropriate for people from South Asian backgrounds.
- We want to know why and find practical solutions.
- Ultimately our goal is to create a plan for a PR Group that is tailored to South Asian people’s needs to help with access and completion of PR.
- We are recruiting south Asian people living with COPD to take part in a discussion about Pulmonary Rehabilitation to understand how they feel about it and why they might, or might not, attend the programme.
