We served up our third 'Gather, Eat and Move' lunch today - funded by Age Friendly Manchester City Council and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (🙏). Leek & Potato Soup with rolls. Proved to be very popular! Nearly everyone had a second bowl. Delicious 😋

Fantastic to be joined by Sian and Lisa from Home Instead Altrincham, Sale and Wythenshawe - Home Care & Live-in at our Community Lunch. They chatted to Members about the latest edition of their 'Live well, your way' magazine with it's great What's on Where (WOW) guide. Full of community news and things to do.

Iyabo became a WGN Member early in 2024 and said: “I’d like to wish Wythenshawe Good Neighbours happy 15th. They have helped to improve my confidence and to have more joy. With people to talk to, I look forward to going out and I’m more independent now...”

Brian joined WGN back in 2020. He uses the Volunteer Drivers Scheme regularly and enjoys our Community Lunch and coffee mornings regularly. His message to us is: “Happy birthday to WGN and thank you very much for giving me my freedom back.”

This week, WGN Member, Lana talks about what made our WGN Community Lunch extra special this week:

"This week saw the start of Macmillan Coffee Mornings across the country, so I thought it was an opportunity to host one at our weekly lunch club supported by Wythenshawe Good Neighbours.

Everyone was in good spirits, ready to eat some delicious, homebaked cakes and make some very generous donations to a fantastic cause.

Sadly, we all know someone who has been affected by cancer and some that continue to need Macmillan Nurses.

We held our event in memory of our dear beloved friend *Tess* who was a committed member of WGN and had attended from the very start. We will miss her very, very much.

We had a word search to warm us up and then had a quiz that was mainly about food... followed by a popular raffle with various wonderful prizes.

I felt the afternoon went really well... we were all friends together, enjoying one another's company, surrounded by fun and laughter.

Thank you to everyone for all the donations. The big count is ongoing!!!"

Our 🚘 Volunteer Drivers Scheme takes our Members out and about locally. Today we've brought Iyabo to a therapeutic Drumming Circle 🥁at The Dandelion Community - part of The United Reformed Church . August gave our Members lots of 😊 moments. From lucky winners of our free raffle; to quiz maestros, nailing our summer 🌞 competition; and those who enjoyed our Gather, Eat & Move free, healthy lunch - followed by a drumming workshop 🥁🪘 - it was smiles all round!

Today was the 1st of our 'Gather, Eat & Move' special Healthy Eating Community Lunches, funded by Manchester City Council Age Friendly Manchester Team & Wythenshawe Community Housing Group . Today's 😋 delicious, nutritious menu was proteins: roast🍗, tuna,🥚+ colourful 🥗 'bar'. Giveaways: fruit/recipes/ice cube tray.

is celebrated annually on 2 Aug. It's a day to celebrate the joy of colouring, enjoyed by children and adults, alike. We had four colouring books with pens to give away in our free raffle at our Community lunch today. Here are two of our chuffed winners. Happy, relaxing colouring to them!
