Keep Antibiotics Working!

Taking antibiotics when they are not needed increases AMR and without effective antibiotics, many routine treatments will become increasingly dangerous. Setting broken bones, basic operations, even chemotherapy and animal health all rely on access to antibiotics that work.

Antibiotics do not work for everything and many mild bacterial infections get better on their own, or with other types of medication. Please take the advice of your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional.

Following the recent terrorist attack, and as more details emerge in the news, it can continue to be traumatic and triggering.

This advice from Greater Manchester Resilience Hub can be helpful to look after yourself and your family:

• Remind yourself that having strong feelings and thoughts is understandable and there is no right way to react.

• Keep to a routine - try and get back to what you would usually be doing. If this feels difficult take it step by step.

• Look after yourself (eat well, get enough sleep and exercise).

• Use your senses to sooth yourself – candles, soft lighting, music, soothing smells on your cuff or strong sweets can all help you feel more grounded.

• If you feel anxious, remind yourself this is a reaction to what has happened.

• Do things to make yourself feel safe. Have things around you that make you feel happy and spend time with people (or pets).

• Take a break from social media and the news if this feels overwhelming

• Share positive ways people can respond and support the community

• If you still find yourself struggling, please reach out to your GP practice or local mental health services.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month🩷

Did you know:

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime.
Men can also be affected, with around 400 cases diagnosed annually.

These statistics are sobering, but there is also hope. Early detection significantly improves survival rates. When breast cancer is caught at its earliest stage, more than 98% of people will survive for 5 years or more. That’s why awareness, education, and action are so essential.

Knowing your body is key. Get into the habit of checking your breasts once a month and/or attending for your NHS breast screening if you are aged between 50 and 70!

Like a foodbank but for mobile data, the National Databank provides free mobile SIM cards for people who can’t access the internet.

Internet access is essential in today’s society, and yet 2 million households have no home internet, and 2.4 million can't afford a mobile phone contract. This lack of access often affects vulnerable people facing other inequalities.

To ensure everyone benefits from internet connectivity, we built the National Databank. Launched in July 2021 with our strategic partner Virgin Media O2, the National Databank was founded to tackle data poverty and isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you or a loved one need free mobile date, please visit :

We're sharing some tips on how to reduce the symptoms of SAD to help make the winter months a happier time🧡

That’s why NHS Greater Manchester is giving some tips on how to reduce the symptoms of SAD to help make the winter months a happier time.

But don’t worry, there are some simple things you can do day-to-day to help reduce your symptoms:

▪️Top up your vitamin D - making the most of what daylight there is, and also by taking a vitamin D supplement
▪️Exercise outdoors
▪️Eating and drinking well - Healthy balanced diet and combine this with drinking six to eight glasses of water or other fluids throughout the day to help keep your brain energised
▪️Stay sociable
