| Recently, PC Noone and PC Service from the and neighbourhood team conducted speed enforcement on Kingsway. During the deployment several vehicles were recorded exceeding the speed limit with the highest being 61mph in a 30mph zone - this driver will now be summonsed to attend court.

Following on from the speed enforcement, a vehicle was sighted on Arbor Drive, Burnage. The driver had a provisional licence and was being supervised by a non-licence holder with no L plates on display. The driver will now be summonsed to attend court for driving overwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance.

Towards the end of the shift, the team attended a report of a road traffic collision on Burnage Lane where a vehicle had collided with several other vehicles. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a class A drug.

Officers conducted proactive patrols across the Fallowfield campus alongside campus security and the Crime Reduction Manager, offering visible reassurance to students and residents.

Yesterday (Tuesday 17 March) the South Manchester Neighbourhood Team conducted a targeted traffic operation on A34 Kingsway.

This activity forms part of Vision Zero, the national roads policing strategy aimed at reducing road danger across Greater Manchester.

During the operation, officers issued multiple traffic offence reports for speeding, served vehicle defect rectification notices, and seized a vehicle under the Police Reform Act due to its involvement in antisocial driving.

In total, officers achieved the following results:
• 42 vehicle stops
• 21 traffic offence reports
• Three vehicle defect rectification notices
• One vehicle seized under the Police Reform Act

| Two men charged with various offences following fatal collision in

Uways Hussain (02/09/2005) of Burnage, Manchester, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving a vehicle whilst uninsured, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without insurance.

Usmon Mahmood (08/11/2002) of Levenshulme, Manchester has been charged with aid and abet causing death by dangerous driving, aid and abet causing death by driving a vehicle whilst uninsured and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Both men have been remanded to police custody ahead of their next appearance at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Thursday 12 March 2026.
