Check bus services. Plan ahead.

Some bus services across Greater Manchester will be disrupted this week, following confirmation that staff from one operator, Metroline, will still go ahead with planned strikes.

We urge all passengers to check whether their bus service is running as normal or will not run due to strike action

Your eyes deserve care at every age.💙

Reminder to book your eye tests.

1) Stop vision loss before it starts

Conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration can creep in silently.

2) Stay independent, stay safe

Clear vision helps with driving, cooking, and moving around confidently. Eye checks lower the risk of falls and keep daily life safer.

3)Your eyes tell a bigger health story

Eye exams can reveal diabetes, high blood pressure, and even neurological changes. It's part of a vital whole-body health care.

Since it’s National Eye Health Week, it’s a good time to remind you to book an eye test if you’re due one 🗓

Regular eye tests are an important health check for your eyes, even if you have no problems with your vision and don't need glasses. So take this as your reminder. Your eyes will love you, and so will we.

Even with the best intentions, it’s easy to make mistakes that create more stress than support for your parents AND for yourself.

Here are 3 mistakes to avoid as your parents grow older (and what to do instead):

⚠️1) Don’t wait too long to ask for help

Families often reach out only when they’re already overwhelmed.

Needs grow faster than expected, and the pressure leads to stress and rushed choices.

✅Do this instead: Explore support before you need it. Planning early prevents costly mistakes, misalignment with your parents’ wishes, and many regrets.

⚠️2) Don’t do it ALL yourself

It may feel like it’s all on you, but it doesn’t have to be.

✅Do this instead: Involve siblings, talk with professionals, and accept help without guilt. That last one matters A LOT.

⚠️3) Don’t leave your parents out of the conversation

Deciding for them instead of with them creates resistance.

✅Do this instead: Invite them in gently. Try saying, “We want to make sure you’re supported and safe so you can enjoy the things you love.” Getting help with meals, mobility, housekeeping, and medication often means more freedom for you, not less.

The truth is this: caring well for your parents as they age means acting with foresight, not fear. Families who have a peace of mind are the ones who plan early and lean on the right support.

Let us know if you would like to discuss support.

**UK Government Emergency Alert Testing**

On Sunday 7 September at 3pm, the UK government will test the Emergency Alerts system on phones and tablets.

Below is what you should expect to see and hear on the day.

You will hear a loud siren-like sound like the one on the video, vibration, and a message will appear on the screen confirming that this is a test.

The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds. This is just a test, and you will not need to take any further action.
