Akoma Healing H'Arts

Akoma Healing H'Arts I offer art therapy and trauma based therapies. When we just don’t have the words...... In times of crisis we can all feel overwhelmed.

Akoma Healing H’Arts provides a space for you to work on your difficulties and find creative solutions. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy. It can help when it is difficult to find the words and talk about how you feel. My name is Olatunde Spence I am a qualified and registered Art Psychotherapist. I run Akoma Healing H’Arts using creativity to connect, inspire and heal. I have lived experience of emotional and psychological distress. I have worked with children and adults for over 30 years working with community groups and individuals to promote health and wellbeing through creativity and connection. I have worked with children in schools and youth clubs who have experienced difficulties in their lives e.g. bullying, loss, trauma, etc. I have provided support to adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, isolation, long term physical health problems, negative or distressing voices, parenting and relationship conflicts. As a therapist I am committed to working with individuals and groups who have experienced adversity, isolation and discrimination. By bringing people together to value life experiences, share stories and reduce isolation we develop resilience and improve our health. I am HCPC Registered and Fully Insured. A Member of the British Association of Art Therapists and a Member of Black and Asian Therapists Network.

David Archer, Thomas Zimmerman and Jennifer Marchand
Join three leaders in the field to learn cutting-edge approaches to EMDR and trauma recovery for work with complex trauma and diverse populations.

Racial trauma, which involves experiences of oppression and discrimination tied to a person’s social identity, presents unique challenges. Clinical experience has shown that many racial trauma survivors actually have present with symptoms that have a high degree of overlap with complex trauma survivors.

In the first of this series of 3 workshops, David Archer will present an overview of his innovative and integrative therapeutic approach called Rhythm and Processing (RAP) Strategies, which combines memory reconsolidation techniques with Afri-centric principles. This framework aims to provide culturally responsive treatment for complex PTSD, identity-based stress, and treatment-resistant disorders.

Rhythm And Processing is a revolutionary model of trauma treatment that teaches how to reset the nervous system and reconnect with the body.

This year the foundation is offering a full scholarship for students at a range of UK universities, including SOAS university of London.

(They’ve only received a handful of applications so far)

Please forward this amazing opportunity to any potential students as it truly is a life changing opportunity.
