Singer-songwriter is known for his soulful voice and collaborations with artists such as Pharrell Williams, Jill Scott, Gorillaz, Marsha Ambrosius and Jessie J.

For years he was also recognised for his signature big hair - until he began noticing gradual changes caused by genetic hair loss, something that started to weigh on his confidence.

After researching treatment options, Daley discovered us right on his doorstep in Manchester.

Following two in-depth consultations with , he decided to move forward with an FUE hair transplant, focusing on restoring density around the hairline and temples.

These results are 20 months apart, following his procedure in 2021. Daley also used hair-stimulating medication for around 18 months to support the process and protect his existing hair.

It was fantastic to welcome Colson Smith back to the clinic this week for his follow-up - and even better to sit down and reflect on his hair transplant journey so far.

Beard transplant in progress 🧔🏻‍♂️

Facial hair plays a huge role in how many people frame their face and express their identity, but patchy growth, scarring or naturally sparse density can make achieving the look you want difficult.

Here you can see Dr Rachael Kay performing a beard transplant using the FUE technique.

Here’s what that involves 👇🏻

✔️ Individual follicular units are carefully harvested, usually from the back of the scalp, however, in this case, it was taken from the patients existing facial hair
✔️ Each graft is meticulously prepared under magnification
✔️ Hairs are then artistically placed at precise angles and directions to replicate natural beard growth

The key to a successful beard transplant isn’t just extraction - its design.

Hair calibre, curl, growth direction and density all need to be considered to ensure the final result looks completely natural when shaving, trimming or growing it out.

🎬 Confidence both on and off screen

Actor Anthony Quinlan, best known for his roles in Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, began noticing hair loss in his late twenties - something many men experience, but few openly talk about.

For Anthony, it wasn’t just physical. It was personal - and professional. Working under bright studio lights made the thinning more noticeable and it began to affect how he felt on and off screen.

In December 2020, Anthony underwent an FUE hair transplant at our flagship Manchester clinic with Dr Greg Williams, focusing on restoring the hairline and frontal areas. Taking control of hair loss - and getting results 🚀

When Gary first came to see us in April 2017, aged 37, he’d already experienced significant hair loss - and with a strong family history, it was clear his hair loss was likely to continue without intervention.

The first step wasn’t surgery. Instead, we focused on stabilising his hair loss with medical treatment, giving him control and protecting his existing hair before moving forward.

Later that year, in December, Gary underwent an FUE hair transplant involving 2,000 grafts, carefully planned to work with his long-term hair loss pattern.

The photos you see here are just over one year post-surgery, and Gary is delighted with his progress - a natural, balanced result built on the right foundations.

✨ Early hair loss. Carefully planned results. ✨

Ryan first came to see us in 2021 at just 25 years old, having experienced temple hair loss from the unusually young age of 13.

He was referred to us by his dermatologist, who had successfully stabilised his male pattern hair loss with medical treatment from the age of 18. By the time we met Ryan, his hair loss was well controlled, but the recession at the temples was still a source of real frustration and was affecting his confidence.

In 2021, Ryan underwent an FUE hair transplant involving 1,858 follicular unit grafts. Thanks to his excellent donor quality, yielding an average of 2.75 hairs per graft, and the natural wave in his hair, we were able to achieve a remarkably strong, natural-looking result from a single procedure.

🤔 Thinking about a “preventative” hair transplant? 
Here’s the honest truth: there’s no such thing.

We’re seeing this term used more and more across the industry, but medically and surgically, it simply doesn’t make sense.

A hair transplant doesn’t prevent hair loss. It redistributes hair from areas that are genetically resistant to loss into areas that have already thinned. If there’s no established hair loss, there’s nothing to restore.

In fact, transplanting too early - without understanding how your hair loss is likely to progress - can lead to unnatural results, wasted donor hair, and the need for corrective surgery later on.

What does exist is: 
✔️ Preventative medical treatment (such as minoxidil or finasteride) ✔️ Careful long-term planning based on pattern, history and donor supply ✔️ Surgery at the right time - not the earliest time

A strong result, just 8 months post-operation ✨

Joshua underwent his FUE hair transplant in April 2023 with , involving 2,800 grafts over two consecutive days. The focus was primarily on restoring density to the crown, while also refining the receding temples for a balanced, natural result.

Aged just 33 at the time of surgery, Joshua had been experiencing hair loss since his mid-20s. By stabilising his hair loss with topical minoxidil before treatment, we were able to plan a procedure that worked with his existing hair, not against it.

The results you see here are only 8 months post-op and Joshua was delighted with the transformation.
