We were up early this morning, talking about how influential light is in our sleep-wake pattern - here on Rum, it’s bright by 4:30am - and even with your eyes closed, your body starts to respond.
Light is powerful like that. It’s a natural signal. And when we work with those signals, not against them, everything - including sleep - starts to feel easier.
We know that poor sleep is a major issue for many people feeling stressed, some people here with the Curtis Palmer Program struggle with sleep - maybe you have your own sleep issues too?
A huge number of the people we work with experience some form of insomnia - struggling to get to sleep, waking in the night, or waking up feeling as tired as when they went to bed.
I knew that pattern well but over time, using the practices we now teach in Back to Balance - breathwork, nervous system regulation, light exposure, movement, routine - my sleep gradually transformed. It didn’t happen all at once - small, consistent changes made a lasting difference.
Because improving sleep isn’t just about what we do at night-time, it starts in the morning. It starts with rhythm & giving your body the cues and support it needs to feel safe enough to rest.
Light in the morning helps reset your body clock and improves energy and sleep quality.
Breathwork helps calm the nervous system and reduce the stress that keeps you wired.
Simple, repeatable routines build a sense of safety and signal ‘it’s time to switch off’.
