➡️ I’m often asked if I offer a pessary fitting service, as I don't advertise this on my website.

➡️ The answer is yes.....I do 🥰

🚫 But not as a standalone appointment.

♀️ As a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Pelvic Health, my role is to assess the whole picture, not just fit a device.

➡️ In clinic, pessaries are always part of a full pelvic health assessment, looking at pelvic floor strength and coordination, bladder and bowel function, lifestyle, activity levels, and long-term goals.

Research supports this approach 🙏

➡️ Studies such as the POPPY trial show pelvic floor muscle training can significantly improve prolapse symptoms, while the TOPSY trial highlights the importance of education, follow-up, and ongoing support when using a pessary.

➡️ So, for me, a pessary isn’t a quick fix. It’s one tool within a broader, evidence-based pelvic health plan.

🩷 Because the goal isn’t simply to fit a pessary, it’s to support your pelvic health for the long term.

♀️ Menopause isn’t just about hormones. It’s a whole-body transition that can affect your bladder, bowel, and s*xual health, as well as how supported & strong your pelvic floor feels.

💧 You may notice changes such as:

➡️ Bladder urgency or leakage
➡️ Vaginal dryness or discomfort
➡️ Heaviness or prolapse symptoms
➡️ Pain or reduced sensation with s*x

👎These are common, but they are not something you have to live with.

♀️Pelvic floor therapy, lifestyle changes and the right hormonal support can make a huge difference.

🙏 Today, I had the chance to step behind the scenes & shadow a patient’s journey through gynaecology surgery.

➡️ From pre-op checks ➡️ to time in theatre ➡️ to recovery… it was incredible to see the whole pathway in action 🙏

♀️ As pelvic health physios, we often only see a small part of a patient’s story.

💗 Following the process from start to finish gave me such a deeper appreciation of the teamwork, skill, and communication that goes into every stage of care. 💙

➡️ Leaks with jumps, running, sneezing
➡️ Nocturia ×2
➡️ Daytime frequency 11–15
➡️ Urgency (no leakage)
➡️ No periods >1 year
➡️ Vaginal dryness & fragile skin

On assessment:
💪 Strength: 3/5, endurance 6 s, 6 reps
⚡ Fast contractions: 6 in 10 s
⬇️ Bladder neck movement: Downward on cough
🌵 Vaginal tissues: Thinned & pale
📉 Support: Reduced on Valsalva in standing
