ing some unusual and surprising places. We also organise holidays and weekends away, open to friends and family too, which include walking some of the countries well known long-distance paths.

“Oh, how can I put into words the joys of a walk over country such as this;
the scenes that delight the eyes, the blessed peace of mind, the sheer exuberance which fills your soul as you tread the firm turf?
This is something to be lived, not read about. “

A few hills today but many more stiles and many styles of Stiles to boot. Starting from the market Square in Hartington we immediately climbed our first hill and stile hading towards Pillsbury Castle. From the castle we continued towards Crowdicote and upwards to Edgetoon. Here some decided to take a shorter route directly back to Hartington. The remaining ones decided that more hills and stiles were called for so we set off for Sheen. From sheen it wasn't long before we were back in Hartington.
A somewhat cloudy day but no rain.
Thanks to Julie for leading today.

A beautiful evening for walking and there were plenty of wild flowers to see - cowslips, bluebells and wild garlic. Starting from Poulter Country Park with it's abundance of cowslips we headed for Graves Wood to see the bluebells, moving on towards Boon Hill Woods for the wild garlic.
Thanks to Julie and Val for our first evening walk of the year.

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.

Gedling Country Park was our start point today and initially a little cooler than yesterday but the spring sunshine came through to keep us warm as we walked through the dumbles into Lambley. After circling around above Lambley we returned through the village towards Burton Joyce before turning back to the country park where we circled around to the viewing points.
Thanks to Merv and Hazel for leading. Special mention to Hazel for providing delicious cakes at our early drink break.

Starting in Kneesall close to St Bartholomew's Church we made our way towards the National Holocaust Museum encountering a number of youngsters doing their bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. Passing the museum we eventually turned towards Laxton where we took our lunch break in the grounds of St. Michael's Church. Laxton is known for being England's last open field village. From the church we walked through South Field and Mill Field to return to Kneesall. A lovely sunny day, perfect for walking.
Thanks to Steve for leading the way.

A pessimist sees only the dark side of the clouds and mopes.
A philosopher sees both sides and shrugs.
An optimist doesn't see the clouds at all - he's walking on them.
