Our staff and premises adhere to national trade association SAIF's code of practice on standards. This means we will always care for families and their loved ones with the utmost respect and professionalism. Here at W.S Ingham & Son Ltd we aren't just funeral directors...

β€’ We are a shoulder to cry on.
When families see us, they are facing one of the hardest times of their lives, and as funeral directors we see it all, all the emotions, all the feelings - nothing surprises us. We are always here for our families, whether it is to have a little moan, get something off their chest or if they just need a hug. We are here to offer comfort and support beyond the funeral itself.

β€’ We are normal people.
Often people get the impression funeral directors are morbid, and while we take our job role seriously and we are always professional, we also like a laugh and we have a sense of humour. We aren't like film and tv like to portray people in the funeral industry.

β€’ We have witnessed loss ourselves.
Just because we face death every day, doesn't mean we are immune to feelings around losing a loved one. We have all experienced loss ourselves and we know exactly how you are feeling.

β€’ We are a part of the community.
Being an independent family funeral directors in a small community means most people have heard of us, we work with charities in the local area every year. We support the Royal British Legion and we work with The Beacon Project every Christmas to help those who are facing homelessness.

Choosing music for your loved ones funeral service can be a difficult task. The music you choose is a chance to pay tribute to your loved one while honouring their personality.

When it comes to music for a loved ones funeral service, there are no rules.
If it means something to you and your loved one then it should be included in their funeral service.

According to a survey, the most popular songs to have at a funeral service in the UK are:

Frank Sinatra - My Way
Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings
Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman - Time To Say Goodbye
Gerry and the Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone
Nat King Cole - Unforgettable
Eva Cassidy - Over The Rainbow
Robbie Williams - Angels

And the most popular modern funeral songs across the UK are:

Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved
Ed Sheeran - Supermarket Flowers
James Bay - Hold Back The River

So here at W.S Ingham & Son Ltd we would like to hear what YOU would like played at your funeral service, are you looking for something traditional, modern, something completely different or maybe even something everyone can get up and have a little dance to?

⭐ Meet James ⭐

James is our funeral director.
He has worked for the company since 2023 and is a huge asset to the company. We would be lost without him.

In his spare time James enjoys walking his dogs and spending time with his family.

If you see him in the office he is usually taking care of our families, doing pre paid funeral plans and taking care of the cleaning (when Tony doesn't get there first!)

Has James helped you or your family in the past? Please let us know in the comments below 🀍

⭐ Meet Tony ⭐

Tony is our managing director and funeral director.
He has worked for the company since he was 16 and has made it what it is today. When he was 16 he started working for W.S Ingham & Son Ltd during the school holidays, and joined full time as soon as he left school.

In his spare time Tony enjoys gardening, holidays, spending time with his wife Deb and spending time with family and friends.

If you see him in the office he is usually taking care of the day to day running of the business, taking care of families or you may find him with a hoover and duster in his hand - because everyone who knows Tony knows he has VERY high cleaning standards!

Has Tony helped you or your family in the past? Please let us know in the comments below 🀍

Arranging a funeral service can be a daunting task, but here are some questions you can ask your funeral director to help you make those important decisions, and choose the funeral director to see to your loved ones funeral service.

- Will you be looking after us throughout? Including the day of the funeral service?

- When will we need to pay for the funeral service?

- In what ways do you differ to other funeral directors in the area?

- Can we come and see our loved one in your chapel of rest?

- Can we carry the coffin? Or do we have to use your staff to do this?

- We have a specific date and time in mind for the funeral service, can you accommodate this?

- We would like a celebrant to lead the service for us, how do we find a celebrant that is the right fit for us?

- How much do you like to know the funeral details? How closely do you liaise with celebrants? Do you require a copy of the order of service in advance?

𝑢𝒖𝒓 π’‚π’π’”π’˜π’†π’“π’”:

- The funeral director that you meet when arranging the funeral service for your loved one, will be your point of contact, they will see to all arrangements and will be there on the day to conduct your loved ones service.

- As per our terms and conditions, we require all funeral accounts to be paid no later than 2 working days before the funeral service takes place.

- We differ in the fact we have modern, comfortable premises, we have 3 generations of the Ingham family who actively work within the company, so we are still very much a family run funeral service who has been serving the community since 1979.

- Where possible you are more than welcome to come and see your loved one in our chapel of rest.

- Where possible you can carry your loved ones coffin, we do require each coffin bearer to fill out a disclaimer and return it to us no later than 2 working days prior to the funeral service.

- We will always try and accommodate specific times and dates for a funeral service where we can. There are other factors we have to take into consideration - for example:
Is the crematorium/Church available? Is the celebrant/vicar available? Is the cemetery available?

- Choosing the right celebrant can be a daunting task, there is a lot to consider when choosing the right celebrant. Here at W.S Ingham & Son Ltd we work with many celebrants that we can recommend to you. To make the right decision you want to find a celebrant who makes you feel comfortable and supported and who's service style fits in with your wishes for your loved ones funeral service.

- We like to know as many details of the funeral service as possible, this helps everything on the day run smoothly. Most celebrants will automatically send your funeral director a copy of the order in which the service will run. This includes your music/hymn choices, poems and the general structure of the service.
