This year’s focus highlights the need for mental health support during large-scale disasters and conflict. For many around the world, these situations are life-altering, and access to help is vital.

But crisis can also be personal. It might not involve war or disaster, yet still feel just as overwhelming. A loss, a health scare, a broken relationship, or daily pressures that quietly build up.

What one person copes with, another may find impossible to carry. And that’s okay.

Crisis is individual. It does not need to be dramatic to be valid. What matters is that you feel seen, supported, and able to reach out when things feel too heavy.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s hold space for every kind of struggle. Whether it is happening across the world or within someone’s everyday life, every experience deserves care and support.

Sometimes, the most important lessons in life are the ones we already know... We just need to remember them. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or a little lost right now, these gentle reminders might help, this upcoming Autumn:

🍂 Life is short. Don’t wait for “someday” to start living.
🍂 Not everyone is meant to stay in your life, and that’s okay. It's the same as doing.
🍂 Being constantly busy doesn’t mean you’re living meaningfully.
🍂 Failure isn’t the opposite of success. It’s part of the path.
🍂 Not everyone is meant to stay in your life, and that’s okay.
🍂 Forgiveness is about freeing yourself, not excusing others.
🍂 Not everyone is meant to stay in your life; and that’s okay.
🍂 The way you speak to yourself matters. Be kind to you.

When we talk about wellbeing, we often think about feeling happy. But true wellbeing is much broader than that.

• Calm moments, even during challenges
• Courage to face difficulties with strength, each step at a time
• Growth in ways that feel right for you and not just for others

1. Set screen-free hours – Create clear boundaries for your mind to rest. Giving your brain downtime helps lower stress and improve sleep.

2. Limit notifications – Reduce digital noise and reclaim your focus. Fewer interruptions mean stronger focus and calmer energy.

3. Swap scrolling for reading – Feed your mind with calm, not comparison. A book or magazine helps you relax without digital overload.

4. Take nature breaks – reconnect with the world around you. Spending time outdoors boosts mood, energy, and overall mental well-being.

Balance grows from small, kind choices.

Finding balance is not doing everything at once. It is choosing one gentle thing that helps you feel steady. A quiet cup of tea without your phone. A short walk in fresh air. Saying no when your plate is full. Your “You” time matters.

🦋 Finding Balance This Summer: 5 Tips for Parents and Carers 🦋

You deserve space to look after your own well-being, too. Taking care of yourself doesn’t take away from your care for others; it strengthens it.

It’s OK to feel stretched. It’s OK to feel tired. And it’s absolutely OK to need a breather.

If you’re balancing work, life, and looking after children this summer, here are five gentle reminders that might help:

🌞 Let go of perfection – The house might be messy and routines may slip. That’s OK. Connection matters more than perfection.

🌞 Take at least ten minutes for yourself – If you're struggling throughout the day, try setting an alarm 30 minutes early in the morning. Whether it’s a quiet cuppa, a walk, or just sitting still, carve out moments that are just yours.

🌞 Lower the pressure – You don’t need to entertain 24/7. Too much pressure is put on parents and guardians to always be doing something with their children. Not every day has to be an adventure.

🌞 Ask for help – Whether it’s a friend, neighbour, or a partner; sharing the load is a strength, not a weakness.

🌞 Embrace the outdoors – Fresh air can lift everyone's mood. A simple walk, a picnic, or even time in the garden can break up the day.

Above all, take care of yourself.

🌻Remember, It's Okay to Press Pause🌻

🌳 1. Block out “me time” moments in your week.
Even a 15-minute pause for a cup of tea or a short walk can make a difference. Treat this time as an essential appointment with yourself, something worth protecting and prioritising.

🌳 2. Check in with your calendar before saying yes.
Before agreeing to anything, take a moment to breathe. Ask yourself, “Do I really have the time or energy for this?” It's always okay to say no if it helps you protect your peace.

🌳 3. Choose one activity that fills your cup.
Whether it's reading a book, watering your plants or listening to music, pick something that lifts your mood. Try to enjoy it at least once a week this July.

🌳 4. Practice gentle boundary reminders.
If you're asked to do something that feels too much, try a kind but firm response like, “I’m not able to take that on right now.” Saying no doesn't make you unkind; it makes you honest.

🌳 5. Reflect on how you're spending your time.
Take a few minutes each Sunday to reflect on your week. Did you make time for yourself? Did you say no when you needed to? Even small steps towards balance are worth recognising.
