⚠️ Important Medication Safety Update – GLP-1 Weight Loss Injections ⚠️

Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued updated guidance for healthcare professionals and patients regarding a small risk of severe acute pancreatitis in people taking GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual GLP-1/GIP medications (such as Wegovy and Mounjaro).

GLP-1 medications are generally safe and effective when prescribed appropriately, but like all medicines, they are not without risk.
Acute pancreatitis is a known but uncommon side effect.

🔎 What symptoms should you look out for?
If you or someone you care for is taking a GLP-1 medication and develops:
• Severe, persistent stomach pain
• Pain that may radiate to the back
• Nausea and/or vomiting

➡️ Seek medical advice urgently and speak to a healthcare professional.

📋 The MHRA also advises reporting suspected side effects via the Yellow Card Scheme, which helps improve medicine safety across the UK.
