Sometimes it’s helpful to do shadow work during sessions.
This is my shadow self and my happy feelings (modelling the process to the client) and as you can see, you definitely don’t need to be an artist!

When you see it in action, it can make it easier to understand how different parts of us hold different feelings and experiences.
Shadow work isn’t about getting rid of those darker parts, but about acknowledging them with curiosity and compassion so we can feel more whole, and begin to understand more about these parts of us and the feelings that they bring. 🌿

Anxiety is often like an iceberg.
Above the surface are the visible symptoms such as racing thoughts, irritability, panic, poor sleep, avoidance.

Below the surface are the deeper drivers; fear of failure, low self-worth, perfectionism, past trauma, shame, grief, or attachment wounds.

Anxiety is often a protective response. When we only manage the symptoms, we miss what’s really fuelling it underneath.
Counselling helps you explore those deeper layers in a safe, supportive space, and by understanding triggers, processing past experiences, and learning practical coping tools, anxiety can become more manageable and less overwhelming.

Spending time outdoors can:

🌧️ R A I N 🌧️

Rainy days have a way of affecting our mood, and with the constant barrage of rain at the moment, I just wanted to acknowledge this.

The constant drizzle, the grey skies that seem to stretch on forever… it’s no surprise that many people feel a little heavier at this time of year.
If you’ve been feeling flat, unmotivated, or simply tired of the gloom, you’re not alone. Weather can affect our energy, our perspective, and even our hope.

But here’s something important to remember: this too shall pass. 🌱
Spring is on the horizon.🌷
Beneath the cold soil, bulbs are quietly preparing to bloom.
The lighter evenings will return and warmth will follow, and just like nature, we are allowed seasons too - times of rest, reflection, and slower growth.

If this feels like a heavier season for you, be gentle with yourself: small acts of self care matter: a short walk between showers, a warm drink, a conversation with a friend…

If you’re struggling, you don’t have to weather it alone. 🌱

Therapy doesn’t always look the same! 💚

Sometimes it’s sitting face-to-face, talking and exploring feelings and experiences together, other times it’s colouring, drawing, looking at stones, using mood cards, or playing with play-dough. ✏️

All of these approaches are equally valuable and effective. What matters most is the client and what helps them feel safe, comfortable, and able to express themselves. 🌱
