Marking VE Day....

VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) is celebrated on 8 May each year to mark the end of World War II in Europe. It was a day of mass celebration, street parties, and thanksgiving in the UK and allied nations, following six years of conflict.

For many of our residents, those times still resonate strongly, and they have many family stories of the day itself. So, here at Willow Tree House, we are remembering the occasion with our own Afternoon Tea. The day will kick off at 11am with musical entertainment, and then food and drinks will be served from 12.30pm. We would like to invite everyone to come along to the home and join us for what will be a great day of reminiscing.

Make May Purple!.....

We are celebrating May as Purple Month in an effort to fundraise for the Stroke Association. We have some things to purchase in reception, pin badges and bags of sweets. We have a prize quiz, guess the names of teddy bears, how many sweets in a jar, and a raffle. On top of all that, we have an afternoon tea with live entertainment booked for the 28th of May, when winners will be announced. Put the date in your diary - it's all for a great cause.

Great work Nicola!

A gold star was given to our carer, Nicola, today. Last week we did a spot quiz and identified that she could benefit from some training to improve her knowledge around the Mental Capacity Act and deprivation of liberty issues. Rather than wait for that to be organised, Nicola, in her own time, read up on all the identified issues and today proudly shared her knowledge with other staff members. It's fantastic when a team member is motivated like this, and she is now amazingly knowledgeable on all things MCA and DOLS. What a great attitude and an inspiration to us all!

Easter Fun....

Wow, what a great Easter weekend we had at Willow Tree House. We threw a big party for residents, family, and friends. There was plenty of food and drink, as well as musical entertainment for everyone to enjoy. It was lovely to see everyone come together to enjoy the Easter season in such a nice way. We hope you enjoyed your Easter too.
